Job Description DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS Location: South Mountain Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt Salary Range: $57,500 - $70,000 annually HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE AT SUN VALLEY ACADEMY Sun Valley Academy is seeking dynamic and collaborative leaders to support the operational success of our schools. Our operations leaders ensure that systems, facilities, and logistics run efficiently so that students and educators can focus on learning and achievement. As the Director of Operations, you will serve as the operational and facilities leader for the school, working closely with the Principal and administrative team. This role is responsible for overseeing campus operations, facilities management, logistics, and operational systems that support a safe, efficient, and high-performing learning environment. The Director of Operations reports to the Chief Operations Officer. Responsibilities include: • School Operations Leadership & Team Management, • Partner with the Principal to develop and implement the operational vision aligned with the school's academic and cultural goals., • Oversee all campus systems and operations that keep the school running efficiently., • Support strategic planning and operational budgeting processes., • Hire, manage, coach, and develop operations staff including facilities, custodial, grounds, front office, and health services personnel., • Manage relationships with vendors and service providers supporting school operations., • Supervise front office and health services teams to ensure efficient services and compliance with student health requirements., • Support athletics planning and coordinate operational logistics for athletic programs. Finance & Procurement • Actively manage the school budget throughout the year by participating in monthly budget meetings to review variances, monitor school spending, and proactively seek opportunities to ensure expenditures are aligned to the school's academic priorities, • Manage school purchasing process by establishing clear systems for employees to request necessary supplies, place orders with vendors, track deliveries, and code and submit purchase orders, invoices, and reimbursement requests, • Manage the school payment process for activity fees and uniforms, • Approve school purchases under a specific financial threshold Facilities & Maintenance • Oversee facilities issues, including maintenance, managing staff/vendors, aesthetics, shared space agreements, and campus safety, • Regularly conduct facilities walkthroughs and collaborate with custodial staff/vendors to ensure that the facility is safe and clean, • Ensure the front office and reception areas are neat, organized, welcoming and has all important parent-facing materials, • Driveline, Food Service & Special Events, • Oversee food service operations including vendor coordination, meal tracking, compliance, and quality., • Manage driveline procedures and staff duty schedules for arrival and dismissal., • Coordinate operational logistics for field trips and school events including transportation, scheduling, and staffing., • Coordinate setup for school events on campus, ensuring all necessary supplies, equipment, and materials are prepared and ready, in collaboration with custodial and operations staff., • Support planning and execution of on-campus events and activities. Technology & Equipment • Ensure students and staff have access to all necessary technology, equipment, and resources that support daily operations and learning., • Coordinate with IT vendors for troubleshooting, repairs, and technology improvements., • Lead school startup processes each year to ensure the facility is fully equipped and ready for operations., • Manage and maintain all school equipment, operational systems, and inventories essential to campus functioning., • Oversee the availability and readiness of instructional, administrative, and operational supplies to ensure the school runs efficiently. Student Information Systems & Academic Operations Support • Manage student information system(s) and maintain accurate student data and information to ensure all records are in compliance with federal, state, regional and school requirements, • Oversee the substitute teacher process including participating in substitute interviews, orienting new substitutes to the school, and managing the process by which teachers seek coverage for absences, • Student Recruitment & Enrollment, • Support student recruitment initiatives., • Assist with parent information sessions, school tours, and enrollment events., • Ensure enrollment processes are organized and effectively executed. Risk Management, Compliance & Office of People & Culture Support • Ensure the school is prepared for emergencies by conducting all drills and training staff on emergency plans, • Partner with the Office of People & Culture on employee onboarding, documentation, and personnel record maintenance., • Complete onboarding and exit forms for campus employees and partner with The Office of People & Culture on any/all action items surrounding the logistics, • Ensure the school is prepared for emergencies through drills and staff training., • Maintain compliance with school policies, procedures, and safety regulations., • Assist with employee onboarding and exit procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Educational Administration, or a related field., • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory, administrative, operations, or facilities leadership experience in an education, corporate, or government organization., • Demonstrated experience managing projects, planning operations, and coordinating teams., • Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities and operational priorities., • Experience working with diverse communities, families, or student populations., • Master's degree in business administration, education administration or related field MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Positions in this classification typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, fingering, standing, walking, pushing, reaching, lifting, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions., • Employees must be subject to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
