Scope of the Role The Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of warehouse material handling equipment (MHE), including forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks, electric pallet jacks (EPJs), stand-up lifts, pacers, and other powered industrial equipment. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment across multiple fulfillment centers nationwide. The technician will perform preventive maintenance, respond to urgent repair needs, maintain accurate service records, and support warehouse teams through training and best practices. Frequent travel is required to support multiple sites and minimize downtime across the network. Reporting Structure The Equipment Maintenance Technician is member of the Operations Team and reports to the VP of Global Supply Chain & Fulfillment. This position also partners with cross-functional stakeholders and leaders within the organization. Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities • Perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs on a variety of warehouse equipment (forklifts, EPJs, stand-up lifts, reach trucks, cherry pickers, pacers, etc.)., • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems., • Develop and execute proactive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan., • Maintain accurate service logs, repair records, and equipment performance documentation., • Monitor and manage parts inventory to support quick turnaround for repairs., • Collaborate with warehouse leadership to prioritize and schedule maintenance with minimal disruption to operations., • Travel frequently to fulfillment centers nationwide to respond to urgent repairs and scheduled maintenance., • Provide training and guidance to warehouse staff on proper equipment use, daily checks, and basic upkeep., • Partner with vendors for specialized repairs or warranty service when required., • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards during all maintenance and repair activities., • Recommend process improvements, equipment upgrades, or replacements to improve efficiency and reliability. Qualifications & Required Experience • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification in mechanics, diesel, or industrial maintenance preferred., • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing warehouse MHE (forklifts, EPJs, stand-up lifts, etc.)., • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, and mechanical repair., • Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic software., • Proven experience managing parts inventory and maintenance documentation., • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently., • Strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate with multiple sites and teams., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite., • Valid driver’s license required., • OSHA certification or related safety training preferred., • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the year across the U.S., • Ability to work in warehouse environments with variable temperatures, noise, and lighting conditions., • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
