Job DescriptionJob Title: General Production Worker Job Description The General Production Worker supports daily production operations in a warehouse environment by handling, sorting, and processing materials, operating and maintaining equipment, and following strict safety and security procedures. This role involves physical work such as standing for extended periods, lifting and moving materials, and working closely with a small team to ensure efficient, secure, and compliant processing of customer materials. Responsibilities • Empty collected material from containers such as cutting bags, gaylords, boxes, and other collection units in a safe and efficient manner., • Manually unload and dump boxes from pallets to prepare materials for processing., • Sort materials by grade, carefully separating and discarding identified contaminants to maintain quality standards., • Load and unload vehicles as required, ensuring accuracy of all deliveries and pickups., • Maintain strict chain of custody and control over all incoming and outgoing customer materials to support security and compliance requirements., • Perform authorized repairs to production equipment as needed to ensure safe and continuous operation., • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly equipment maintenance tasks when authorized and as directed by plant leadership., • Immediately notify plant leadership of any equipment malfunctions, safety issues, or security concerns., • Identify and recommend operational or process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality., • Communicate workplace layout obstacles and participate in continuous improvement efforts in line with the 5S Workplace Program., • Assist with training new staff members on processes, safety, and equipment as needed., • Learn, understand, and comply with all OSHA requirements, safety protocols, and security procedures., • Consistently wear required uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times while on the production floor.Essential Skills, • Ability to stand for an entire shift and perform physically demanding tasks in a production environment., • Capability to safely handle, lift, and move boxes, containers, and other materials., • General production and general labor experience, including working in a warehouse or manufacturing setting., • Ability to operate basic production and material-handling equipment following established procedures., • Attention to detail when sorting materials and identifying contaminants., • Commitment to following OSHA requirements, safety protocols, and security procedures., • Reliability in maintaining chain of custody and control over customer materials., • Strong communication skills to work effectively with a small team and report issues promptly.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous experience with preventative maintenance on machines is a plus., • Experience with machine operation or machine operating in a production environment., • Familiarity with packaging processes and material handling., • Comfort using basic hand tools for minor repairs and adjustments., • Experience working within a 5S or similar continuous improvement program., • Willingness to assist in training new team members and share best practices.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a warehouse and production environment, working on the floor with one other team member in a small, close-knit setting that fosters a family-like feel. You work around production and material-handling equipment and are expected to follow all safety and security procedures. The environment is structured, safety-focused, and process-driven, with clear expectations and training. There is room for advancement, and as the operation grows, promotions from within are encouraged. Once hired directly, you can expect a pay increase and access to a broader benefits package. A required uniform and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times while on the production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Des Moines, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
