The Printing Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of forty-six (46) hourly personnel in the sheetfed, die-cutting/embossing, folding and gluing, and KEM playing card converting area across all shifts. This position has direct responsibility in the development of subordinates, achievement of safety, quality, cost, productivity, throughput, delivery metrics, and attainment of production schedule. What you’ll do as a Printing Supervisor: • Identifies developmental opportunities in assigned personnel and actively seeks to add value through coaching, mentoring, informal training, and formal training., • Leads continuous improvement initiatives to drive business results using Lean, Six Sigma and/or Total Quality Management methodologies. Continuous Improvement initiatives focus heavily on 5S/Visual Management, Total Productive Maintenance, Safety, and Total Quality (aka V.E.S.T. program)., • Organizes staffing needs based on daily production requirements. Ensures adequate and qualified team members are in place during scheduled times. Coordinates with peers daily to ensure team members are appropriately assigned in the Printing Department., • Liaises with Scheduling and Sales team to maintain exceptional on-time delivery performance (>99%)., • Makes quality recommendations and enacts decisions daily concerning disposition of quality holds, excessive scrap, and quality of delivered product., • Utilizes SAP information system and Microsoft Office Suite to record production information, material transfers, supply inventories, etc. Advanced knowledge and proficiency is required to help subordinates troubleshoot issues., • The primary shift is Monday-Friday 1st shift. Assigned personnel work varying shifts Monday – Friday., • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in Operations Management, Organizational Leadership and/or Engineering, • Working knowledge in Lean Manufacturing/Toyota Production System, • Working knowledge in Six Sigma methodologies, • Working knowledge in Total Quality Management Systems, • Demonstrated leadership experience in which you are responsible for coaching and developing others., • A team player mindset is required. Expect to handle interdepartmental challenges with your peers, creating win-win solutions for the organization., • A team leader mindset is required. Expect to lead process improvements in your area that enable the business to achieve the desired results., • Some problems are easy to solve. Most existing problems are extremely complex and require team-based problem solving. Be prepared to help and/or lead cross-functional teams in order to achieve business objectives., • Communication is critical to this role. You will liaise with multiple departments on a weekly basis in order to meet customer and business objectives. This communication takes place in person, over the phone, and through e-mail communications., • Computer use is extensive throughout the operation. Employee should expect to spend the remaining 50% of time sitting at workstations and attending meetings in well-lit office environments., • Some areas are noisy and require hearing protection., • Travel is not planned but may occur on occasion (<10% of time)., • Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
