Position Summary: Vice President of Advancement The Adler Planetarium seeks a strategic, ambitious, and collaborative leader to serve as its Vice President of Advancement, overseeing both the Development and Marketing functions of the organization. This position represents a unique opportunity to play a significant role in shaping the future of one of Chicago’s most iconic cultural institutions during a period of significant growth and transformation. Working closely with President and CEO Dr. Elizabeth Babcock, the Vice President will play a central role in advancing the Adler’s visibility, strengthening philanthropic support, and driving increased engagement with the museum’s programs and experiences. This position will lead an integrated strategy spanning fundraising and marketing, ensuring the Adler’s story resonates with donors, visitors, and partners across Chicago and around the world. This leader will guide the development team’s work to deepen relationships with major donors, corporations, and foundations while also launching the Adler’s membership program. This leader will also serve as a thought partner with Elizabeth and the Board to design and launch the Adler’s centenary celebration, including significant capital fundraising. The Vice President will also lead marketing strategies designed to increase attendance, build brand awareness, and convert public enthusiasm for space exploration into meaningful engagement. Location, Compensation and Benefits This is a hybrid role based in Chicago, Illinois with three days in office. The salary for this position is $215,000 - $240,000 with generous benefits.
