Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid) Classification: Exempt Status: Full-time Reports to: Director, Financial Reporting and Accounting Purpose Driving excellence in SALT compliance and financial reporting, this role calls for a sharp, detail‑driven Accountant ready to lead critical tax and reporting processes. The position requires deep expertise in State and Local Tax (SALT) and U.S. GAAP financial reporting, overseeing end‑to‑end SALT compliance while supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities. Success demands an analytical mindset, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly across functions to ensure reporting that is accurate, timely, and fully compliant. Responsibilities • Prepares and files state and local income/franchise/business tax returns, sales and use tax returns, property tax filings, and business license renewals., • Assists with nexus analyses, exposure assessments, and state tax registrations., • In conjunction with external tax preparers, prepares state apportionment, reviews quarterly estimate vouchers and extension forms and reviews calculations. Reviews state income tax returns, supports state audit responses, information requests, and correspondence with tax authorities., • Maintains tax calendars and ensures timely compliance across all jurisdictions., • Collaborates with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting., • Contributes to financial statement footnotes and disclosures; supports year-end audit requests and responds to auditor inquiries., • Collaborates with FP&A, AP, AR, Payroll, Operations, and Legal to ensure accurate cutoff, accruals, and tax-sensitized reporting., • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field., • Minimum of three (3) years of experience., • Experience with SALT tax preparation and planning., • Proficient in GAAP and tax compliance., • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and tax concepts., • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities., • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently., • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal., • CPA or progress toward CPA certification., • Experience with multi-state tax compliance. This job operates in a professional office environment or home office. The work from home environment is expected to mirror a professional office environment with limited distractions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, Microsoft Teams or Zoom for professional video-on meetings. Occasional travel (reimbursable travel) is expected in addition to occasional in-office meetings (non-reimbursable travel).
