Job DescriptionProject ManagerDepartment: Project Management Reports to: Vice President of Operations FLSA Status: Exempt Prepared Date: 06/2006 Revised Date: 03/2012 Summary Coordinate the preparation and scheduling of submittal packages with multiple departments and projects. Review and transmit packages. Follow up with customers and the Production department to maintain an accurate ship date. Coordinate responses to Customer or Consulting Engineers for questions relating to the submittal of a project. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Coordination of multiple projects (20-30) regarding the preparation and scheduling of the submittal package with Application Engineering, Estimating, Manufacturing, and Engineering. Review and transmit the package., • Follow up with the Customer and Production to maintain an accurate ship date., • Coordinate responses to Customer or Consulting Engineer for questions relating to the submittal and the project., • Coordinate with customer to negotiate and resolve field issues after shipment and through warranty period., • Coordinate with Customer Service on missing or damaged items., • Compare the Customer Purchase Order with the order package for completeness, clarity and to insure the costing is appropriate., • Coordinate with customer, Customer Service and Process Engineering on scheduling Field Service visits., • Coordinate with the customer and the Accounting department to obtain project closure. This includes assisting in obtaining final payments and negotiating any customer back charges., • Support Engineering and Contract Administrators with technical and scheduling issues during the contract negotiations with the Customer. The Project Manager II is responsible for the leadership and successful execution of projects from inception (job launch) to completion (final customer acceptance) within a defined budget, work scope, and schedule. The Project Manager II will motivate and lead their team(s) to jointly reach project goals while increasing profitability and securing repeat business with customers. Role and Responsibilities • Lead domestic and international projects through all milestone phases pre-launch through project closure while inspiring confidence in the team and management, • Facilitate the relationship between external and internal customers, strengthening relationships through the life of the project by providing exemplary customer service and communication, • Determine a project budget after collaboration with the team, Sales and Engineering, and manage projects to achieve or exceed profit expectations, • Collaborate with the team as a strategic partner to address any issues that could affect project financials, • Meet regularly with the team to monitor project progress and budget limits, • Coordinate with the team to monitor, document, and continuously manage project risks, opportunities, and action/recovery plans as required, • Construct project timelines to monitor and manage in order to achieve delivery milestones., • Organize project meetings, issue minutes, and track and report project progress with team members to follow up on action items., • Facilitate the team in reviewing milestones, examining potential operational issues/risks and outlining proposed solutions while identifying actions, • Establish and maintain long-term, positive working relationships with internal team members, customers and suppliers; serve as a liaison between internal management and project team members, • Direct Engineers in the successful delivery of technical projects while managing several projects simultaneously, • Assist in achieving strategic objectives by aligning resources with goals and pursuing opportunities that meet the department’s objectives, • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business discipline, • 3-5 years’ Project Management experience in a manufacturing environment, • Experience with the use of Microsoft Office programs such as Project, Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, Power-point, OneNote, etc., • Maintain data within the current Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, • 2-4 years working knowledge of manufacturing type contracts, preferably in the machine tool or automation industry, • 2 -4 years working knowledge of equipment, process, and commonly used design practices for Automation, Test and Assembly, Filtration, • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls and software engineering terms and principles
