Job Description CNC Machine Tool Maintenance Specialist Location: Alsip, IL Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Weekends as needed) Compensation: $23.10 – $35.00 per hour, based on experience Your day at a glance At 7:00 a.m., you’re on the floor conducting a quick safety huddle and reviewing the day’s priorities. A CNC lathe is due for a preventative check, a manual mill needs alignment, and a new piece of equipment is being installed this afternoon. You pull wiring diagrams, verify the hydraulic schematic, and gather the right tools and meters. Before touching a panel, you implement Lock Out/Tag Out. By midday, you’ve traced a pneumatic fault to a worn valve, replaced it, and confirmed function. Later, you coordinate a small team to relocate a machine cell, ensuring utilities and leveling are spot-on. You finish with documentation, a tidy work area, and a handoff for weekend work—if needed. The impact you’ll make • Plan, install, repair, and maintain CNC and manual machine tools to keep production running smoothly., • Champion safety—follow procedures, report hazards, and protect people, equipment, and property., • Keep work areas clean and organized, aligned with preventative maintenance expectations., • Read and create clarity from wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment layouts., • Lead equipment installs, removals, and relocations with precision and teamwork., • Interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics; diagnose issues and execute repairs., • Implement Lock Out/Tag Out when servicing machines., • Pitch in wherever needed to support the mission, vision, and values of the team. What you bring, • 3+ years in a manufacturing setting working with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems., • 3+ years maintaining CNC and manual machine equipment. High School Diploma, Trade School certification, or GED preferred., • 2+ years troubleshooting/repairing hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, and building systems (heating, cooling, general facilities)., • 2+ years reading blueprints, mechanical prints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams., • Hands-on skill with micrometers, gages, meters, calipers, and related precision tools., • Mechanical aptitude, strong technical judgment, and a continuous-improvement mindset., • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team., • Clear communication in English, written and verbal, with strong problem-solving. Work environment and physical expectations, • Onsite industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat/cold, fumes, and chemicals., • Lift up to 50 lbs; kneel, bend, climb ladders, work in confined areas; walk/stand for extended periods., • New employees are regarded as probationary for the first 60 working days of their employment., • After probation, the employee will join the union with an initiation.
