Job DescriptionTax Manager -This is with a Public Accounting Firm and requires Public Accounting experience as well as an active CPA license- Job Title: Tax Manager - HNW Focus Job Location: Hybrid Job Salary: $130k-$160k (DOE) Requirements: 5+ Years of Public Accounting Tax Experience Tax Manager Position Overview We are seeking a seasoned Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning, and advisory services for a diverse portfolio of clients, including high-net-worth (HNW) individuals, corporations, S-corporations, and nonprofit organizations. The Tax Manager will oversee preparation and review of federal and state tax returns, manage client relationships, mentor staff, and contribute to business development within a public accounting environment. This role requires strong technical tax knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to client service and team leadership. Key Responsibilities • Manage and review preparation of federal and state tax returns including Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, and Form 990 (nonprofit returns); ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with tax laws and regulations., • Provide tax planning and advisory services for HNW individuals, closely held businesses, partnerships, and nonprofit organizations; identify tax-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to minimize tax liability., • Supervise, mentor, and train tax staff; delegate and review work, provide feedback, and support professional development to build a high-performing team., • Serve as primary client contact for tax engagements; develop and maintain strong client relationships, handle client inquiries, and explain complex tax issues in clear, actionable terms., • Coordinate tax provision and compliance work across multiple jurisdictions; collaborate with state and local tax specialists and coordinate with audit and advisory teams as needed., • Oversee research on complex tax issues, interpret tax code changes, and communicate implications to clients and internal teams., • Manage tax project timelines and workflow, ensuring deadlines are met and resources are allocated effectively during peak seasons., • Support business development efforts by participating in proposal preparation, client pitches, and cross-selling of firm services., • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Masters in Taxation or advanced tax coursework preferred., • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required., • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, with exposure to tax compliance and advisory services., • Proven experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns, specifically Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, and Form 990; familiarity with tax provisions relevant to high-net-worth (HNW) clients., • Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax law, tax research skills, and experience interpreting changes in tax legislation., • Prior experience supervising staff and managing client engagements in a public accounting setting., • Excellent communication and client service skills, with the ability to translate technical tax matters for non-technical audiences., • Proficiency with tax software and Microsoft Office; experience with tax research tools and practice management systems a plus.
