Job Description Finance & Accounting Intern Department: Finance and Accounting Program Length: 10 Weeks (Summer Internship Program between June - July) Location: On-site in New York Role type: Hourly Pay: $19-21/hr. The Role The Finance & Accounting Intern will support PopUp Bagels’ corporate Finance and Accounting team through hands-on, project-based work focused on financial reporting, budgeting support, analysis, and process improvement. This internship is designed to provide real-world exposure to core accounting and finance operations within a fast-growing, multi-location organization. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, eager to learn, and excited to contribute to meaningful work that supports company growth and decision-making. Essential Responsibilities: • Assist with basic accounting tasks such as invoice tracking, documentation support, and reconciliations under team supervision., • Support month-end close activities by organizing reports, validating data, and assisting with schedule preparation., • Help maintain accurate financial records and support internal reporting needs., • Compile and analyze financial data to support internal reporting (weekly/monthly dashboards, spend tracking, variance analysis, etc.)., • Assist with budget and forecast support, including organizing departmental inputs and summarizing trends., • Help identify opportunities to improve visibility into costs, operational spending, and financial performance., • Support finance process documentation (e.g., workflows, templates, reporting trackers)., • Participate in a project-based intern deliverable (examples may include: expense trend analysis, budget variance dashboard, AP/AR process mapping, close calendar improvement project, or KPI reporting support)., • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, People/HR, Development, and other teams as needed to support accurate reporting and alignment. General Internship Program Expectations • Attend intern onboarding sessions, weekly departmental check-ins, and end-of-program presentations., • Demonstrate ownership, curiosity, and professionalism while managing deadlines and deliverables., • Communicate progress and ask questions proactively to ensure alignment and learning. Required Education, Experience, and Competencies: • Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior undergraduate student, or graduate student, in one of the following (or a closely related field): Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Business Analytics, or Economics Preferred Experience • Previous internship, project work, or coursework related to accounting, finance, budgeting, or reporting., • Exposure to financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) through coursework or work experience is a plus., • Ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and translate findings into actionable insights., • Basic understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and business fundamentals., • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required (formulas, pivot tables, formatting, and data organization); familiarity with accounting systems or ERPs is a plus., • Attention to Detail: Strong accuracy and diligence when working with financial information and documentation., • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders and teammates., • Demonstrates professionalism and discretion when handling financial and company-sensitive information., • Works well in a team environment and is comfortable asking questions, receiving feedback, and learning quickly., • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing organization where priorities may shift., • Location: Based New York or surrounding area and available for 10-week summer intern program between June-July. Physical Requirements · Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer to complete reporting, analysis, and administrative tasks. · Ability to communicate effectively via email, video conferencing, and in-person meetings (as applicable). · Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 15 pounds (e.g., laptop, materials, supplies) if needed. · Ability to travel locally to corporate sites or shops on occasion, if required for internship exposure.
