Job Description POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: HVAC TECH Facilities Technician II - Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning REPORTS TO: Director/VP of Facilities SUPERVISES: Volunteers EXEMPT OR NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt LOCATION: Onsite POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: An AC Tech, or a Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technician, installs and repairs various air quality systems. The main duties include locating and diagnosing maintenance problems on equipment, conducting warranty services and quickly performing emergency repairs on certain equipment items. The ideal candidate possesses skills in installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Key areas include system troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and customer communication. Additional experience with specific equipment, like chillers, boilers, and specific brands, are desirable. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical and mechanical components, and relevant tools and equipment. Troubleshooting Abilities: The ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues with HVAC systems. Communication Skills: Effective communication with customers and team members. Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently. Attention to Detail: Ensuring proper installation and maintenance of HVAC systems. Safety Awareness: Adhering to safety regulations and guidelines while working. The ideal candidate will be an experienced HVAC Tech that is used to routinely install various HVAC equipment, including furnaces, air conditioners, ventilation systems, and refrigeration units, following blueprints and specifications. • Experienced HVAC Tech with conducting routine maintenance checks on HVAC systems, cleaning ducts and filters, lubricating parts, and ensuring proper refrigerant levels., • Experienced at diagnosing and repairing malfunctioning HVAC systems, addressing issues with electrical and mechanical components, and replacing faulty parts., • Identify and resolve problems with HVAC systems, ensuring efficient and reliable operation., • Building Displays, • Preparing CMA for severe weather, • Being part of the ride out crew in severe weather such as hurricanes, • Painting, • Drywalling, • Repairing sinks, toilets, • Repairing coolers, habitat chillers and heaters, • Installing plumbing for habitats, • Plugging leaks in habitats, • Performing PM’s on equipment other than AC units, • Hanging signage, • Complete daily work orders and projects as assigned by the Engineering Supervisor or Engineering Manager, • Ability to perform preventative maintenance as needed., • Ability to use hand and power tools safely., • Coordinate projects and repairs with other departments to provide a safe working environment for all staff, guests, and animals., • Fabricate various materials to safely achieve assigned work orders, • Operate heavy equipment in a safe manner to perform daily assigned work orders., • Properly and safely provide preventative maintenance on all facilities related equipment, • Valid Drivers License, • Install, maintain, and repair HVACR systems., • Install electrical components and wiring., • Inspect and test HVACR systems and components., • Discuss system malfunctions with customers., • Repair or replace worn or defective parts., • Recommend maintenance to improve system performance., • Keep records of work performed., • Certifications preferred include: EPA Section 608 certification, NATE certification, HVAC Excellence Certification, • Forklift and scissor certification preferred or ability to complete within 60 days of hire, • OSHA 30 Certification required or ability to complete within 60 days of hire, • Graduate of a nationally recognized HVAC trade school required; experience may be substituted on a 1 to 1 basis, • Ability to drive company vehicles, • Work in outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity – Frequently., • Walk/stand for long periods of time - Frequently., • Maneuver safely on uneven terrain or in tight spaces - Frequently., • Reach above the shoulders - Frequently., • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs – Frequently., • Reach above the shoulders – Frequently., • Climb ladders and work at heights – Frequently., • Operate heavy equipment or machinery – Occasionally.
