Legal Assistant Permanent, Full Time, Hybrid up to £32,000 per annum, based on experience The Legal Assistant will provide proactive, responsive and professional legal support across the organisation, with a particular focus on sales, conveyancing, permissions, litigation, and general legal enquiries. This role supports the Legal Manager and Legal Officer by managing day‑to‑day caseload activities, coordinating internal and external communications, and ensuring timely and accurate handling of legal matters. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring governance, compliance, and high‑quality service delivery across the business. Key Responsibilities Legal Support & Advisory Provide prompt, accurate first‑line advice to internal teams on legal queries, undertaking research where necessary and escalating to the Legal Manager as required. Manage permission requests, ensuring leases are reviewed and responses issued within agreed timescales. Support the Legal Manager in overseeing the litigation caseload, including housing management cases, court processes, injunctions, and complex ASB matters. Support the Legal Officer with conveyancing matters, including shared ownership plot sales, staircasing transactions, deeds of variation and lease extensions. Case & Process Management Manage the disrepair process, including maintaining case logs, coordinating tasks, working with external legal advisers, and handling settlement payments and invoices. Oversee the Governance and Legal inbox, assigning responsibilities, triaging new queries, and ensuring efficient communication management. Internal Service Delivery Provide a responsive, high‑quality service to the sales team, ensuring sales‑related queries are dealt with promptly and that accurate advice is offered. Maintain clear and accurate records, including storing external legal advice and ensuring documentation is retained appropriately. Person Specification Key Skills & Attributes Excellent attention to detail. Strong legal drafting skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). Proactive approach and ability to work independently. Good analytical skills with the ability to advise the business on appropriate courses of action. Ability to prioritise effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge & Experience Minimum of 2 years relevant legal experience. Experience and knowledge of conveyancing processes. Experience handling litigation matters, including housing management issues. Understanding of civil procedure rules. Experience working in an in‑house legal environment. Qualifications Educated to degree level in Law Strong IT skills, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite. CILEX or similar legal qualification.
