Data Center Operations Manager Based anywhere in UK with some global travel £95,000 - £120,000 + options After a recent successful placement with the same client, Troi Search are delighted to be working once again with this Technology company, that specialises in providing high-performance, sustainable GPU cloud infrastructure for High-Performance Computing (HPC) workloads - in other words, provides the backbone that powers the surge in AI demand. The Role As Data Centre Operations Manager, you’ll own the critical balance of uptime, efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement in a demanding environment. You'll lead the operational delivery of proprietary data centres, from commissioning infrastructure to building world-class teams, you’ll establish operations capable of running AI at scale. You'll also own Colocation Partner Management. You'll oversee operations across multiple third-party facilities, ensuring consistent standards, strong vendor relationships, and seamless integration. What you'll be doing: • Lead commissioning and management of proprietary data centres, • Build teams, processes, and infrastructure for large-scale AI/HPC deployments, • Oversee installation and testing of critical systems (power, cooling, cabling, fire suppression), • Maintain high-density GPU operations with maximum uptime and efficiency, • Track KPIs: power usage, cooling efficiency (PUE), capacity, and availability, • Manage operations across multiple third-party facilities, • Ensure alignment on SLAs, standards, and incident response, • Coordinate maintenance, capacity changes, and incident handling, • Monitor partner performance and drive improvements, • Implement consistent SOPs and operational frameworks across all sites, • Monitor performance metrics and support business continuity plans, • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, • Maintain accurate DCIM data and infrastructure records, • Manage vendor relationships and colocation partnerships, • Drive operational excellence using ITIL, Lean, or Six Sigma, • Champion sustainability initiatives, including PUE optimization What we're looking for: • Deep understanding of data centre systems (electrical, mechanical, HVAC, UPS, generators, fire suppression, cabling), • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure (servers, storage, networking, GPU clusters) and its integration with facility systems, • Proven experience managing operations in both owned and colocation environments, • Track record of commissioning and operationalising new data centres from the ground up, • Leadership experience building and mentoring teams in high-uptime, SLA-driven 24/7 environments, • Proficiency with DCIM tools for monitoring, capacity planning, and reporting, • Hands-on experience with critical infrastructure maintenance, • Expert knowledge of industry standards (ISO 27001, ISO 50001, ASHRAE, Uptime Institute Tier Standards), • 5–8 years in data centre operations or facilities management, with 3+ years in a leadership role What you'll get in return: • Very competitive Salary, • Advanced Pension Scheme, • Unlimited Holiday Policy - Take the time you need to rest, recharge, and explore.
