Role Description We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Design Assistant (Graduate / Junior Level) to join our growing Network Design team. In this role, you will support the efficient management of the end‑to‑end design process, ensuring that design submissions, enquiries, and applications are processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with Aurora Utilities Limited Licence Conditions and standards. You will help maintain smooth workflow operations by monitoring the design inbox, tracking project progress, supporting design reviews, and maintaining technical documentation and policies. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business, including the wider engineering team, to support activities such as LV and ICP self‑design approvals, generation connection applications, grid capacity analysis, CAD drawing development, and maintenance of asset management tools and datasets. You will play an important role in ensuring that engineering data is accurate, complete, and available for downstream project stages. This role is ideal for a graduate or early‑career engineer looking to develop skills in network design, distribution standards, and engineering governance. A key element of this role involves providing administrative and technical support to Design Engineers and other engineering colleagues throughout the project lifecycle. You will contribute to the preparation of documentation that enables a seamless transition from design to delivery, supporting the resolution of design‑related queries and ensuring compliance with internal standards. You will also support the updating of policies, procedures, and technical libraries, contributing to continuous improvement across the team. Key Responsibilities • Monitor and manage the design team inbox, ensuring timely triage and allocation of work., • Track design progress and maintain accurate workflow, reporting, and documentation records., • Support Design Engineers in reviewing LV and ICP self‑design approval submissions., • Assist the wider engineering team with grid connection applications, including technical data gathering and preparation of supporting documentation., • Contribute to grid capacity reporting, including updating datasets and supporting capacity modelling tasks., • Support the development, maintenance, and data quality of engineering asset management tools., • Produce, update, and maintain CAD drawings as required., • Maintain and update technical policies, procedures, standards, and design documentation libraries., • Provide timely and accurate support to internal and external stakeholders., • Collaborate to ensure a smooth transition of projects into delivery and operations., • Maintain high levels of organisation to meet deadlines and regulatory obligations. To be considered you will • Be working towards or hold a Degree, ONC, or HNC in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline., • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the electricity industry and how distribution networks operate., • Have an interest in learning to produce simple drawings or diagrams. Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) is helpful but not essential., • Show strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks., • Be confident using MS Office and comfortable working with engineering data., • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills., • Be proactive, positive, and keen to learn and develop within the role., • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders., • Maintain accuracy, professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail., • Be flexible, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
