Senior Quantity Surveyor - Civil Engineering / Remediation Location: Cardiff, Reading or Warrington Salary: Competitive (DoE) + Excellent Benefits Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured projects nationwide, a leading contractor within the civil engineering and remediation sector is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its expanding commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor with experience in civil engineering, remediation, enabling works, or brownfield development projects to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK. While the role can be based from Cardiff, Reading, or Warrington, occasional travel to live project sites will be required. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of projects from tender stage through to final account, ensuring cost control, risk management, and commercial performance are maintained throughout the project lifecycle. • Commercial Management:, • Manage projects from tender award through to final account settlement., • Prepare and maintain budgets, cost plans, forecasts, and financial reports., • Monitor project performance and provide regular commercial updates., • Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks and opportunities., • Attend commercial and project progress meetings., • Provide commercial input on design developments and construction methodologies., • Procurement & Subcontract Management:, • Procure and manage specialist subcontractors., • Negotiate subcontract agreements and allocate commercial risk appropriately., • Administer subcontractor payments, variations, and final accounts., • Valuations & Payments:, • Prepare and submit interim valuations., • Assess subcontractor applications and certify payments., • Monitor project cash flow and financial performance., • Support accurate project reporting and forecasting., • Variations & Change Management:, • Identify, price, and negotiate variations and compensation events., • Maintain detailed records to support claims and change control processes., • Manage contractual change in accordance with NEC and other relevant contracts., • Cost Reporting:, • Produce monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)., • Forecast project outcomes, margins, and final account positions., • Report commercial performance to senior stakeholders., • Work closely with operational and technical teams to ensure accurate cost management., • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, remediation, infrastructure, or related sectors., • Strong knowledge of commercial management and contract administration., • Working knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts., • Excellent commercial awareness with strong risk and change management skills., • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities., • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience., • Experience working for a civil engineering or remediation contractor., • Exposure to brownfield development, enabling works, earthworks, or environmental remediation projects., • Experience delivering complex, multi-site projects across the UK., • MRICS qualified or actively working towards chartership., • Competitive salary (dependent on experience)., • Car allowance of approximately £600 per month., • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays., • Fully expensed business travel and subsistence., • Company pension with up to 6% employer contribution., • Private healthcare., • Life assurance/death in service cover., • Wellbeing benefits, including gym contributions., • Annual salary review., • Long-term career progression within a growing and respected organisation.
