Working Hours & Location Full-time, Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm On-site role at Priorclave Ltd., SE28 0AB £45,000+ Salary (DOE) About the Role Priorclave Ltd is seeking an experienced and technically capable Laboratory (Calibration) Manager to take full responsibility for the operation and compliance of our calibration laboratory. This is an interesting hands-on role requiring ownership of the laboratory’s ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, including maintaining compliance, managing audits, and ensuring all technical activities meet required standards. The role also involves practical engineering support, including assisting with the repair, maintenance, and development of various forms of equipment. Key Responsibilities • To take full ownership of the laboratory’s ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, ensuring ongoing compliance and audit readiness, • Lead and manage a team of two calibration technicians, including training, supervision, and competency management, • Oversee calibration activities for temperature sensors and timers used in autoclave validation, • Develop, maintain, and review measurement uncertainty budgets for all relevant calibration activities, • Organise and participate in Interlaboratory Comparisons (ILCs) and proficiency testing schemes, • Maintain and improve laboratory procedures, methods, and documentation, • Support and lead internal and external audits (including UKAS assessments), • Work closely with and report directly to the Operations Director, • Take ownership of relevant elements of the ISO 9001 quality management system, • Ensure full traceability of all reference standards and calibration equipment, • Actively support the repair, maintenance, and development of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, • Oversee the calibration of instruments used by engineers to validate Priorclave autoclaves, • Drive continuous improvement across laboratory operations, quality, and efficiency About You • Strong, working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, with experience managing of maintaining accreditation, • Experience developing and managing uncertainty budgets, • Experience participating in or managing ILCs / proficiency testing, • Hands-on technical capability, with willingness to support equipment repair and development, • Experience calibrating temperature and/or timing instrumentation, • Experience supervising or managing technical staff, • Good understanding of mechanical engineering and thermodynamics, • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems, • Highly organised with strong attention to detail, • Confident communicator, capable of working across technical and operational teams Qualifications • Engineering or technical degree highly desirable but demonstrated capability also considered., • Relevant experience in a calibration or accredited laboratory environment is essential What We Offer • A key leadership role with full responsibility for laboratory accreditation and performance, • Opportunity to influence and develop laboratory systems and processes, • Close collaboration with senior leadership, • A technically engaging role within a specialist laboratory equipment manufacturer Benefits • Company Pension Scheme, • Company sick pay scheme after one year, • Above standard annual leave entitlement, • On-site parking
