How you'll make a difference As a Social Work Assistant, you will be part of a new, dedicated team that support children and their parents who have experienced domestic abuse. We have two part time roles available to deliver one to one and groupwork with children and young people and you will be working together to deliver this support. You will be offered training in the ‘Healing Together’ programme which will give you tools and resources to deliver a structured therapeutic intervention programme suitable for children and their families. What you will be doing • It will be your responsibility to organise and deliver structured group workshops and sessions for children affected by domestic abuse, focusing on shared experiences, emotional understanding, resilience building and recovery., • You will plan and provide one to one sessions with children to explore their lived experiences, support their emotional processing and develop personalised safety plans., • A focus of your work will be supporting parents/carers to understand the impact of domestic abuse on their child and engage them in the recovery process where appropriate., • Daily, you will be planning your interventions, attend review meetings, prepare and share reports, as well as represent young people or the team/service at a variety of meetings relevant to the families you are working with., • Visiting children in a range of settings such as their home, school or agreed safe space, you will develop positive relationships and gain an understanding of the child’s lived experiences., • Reviewing plans created by social workers, you will make sure these are producing good outcomes for children and families. You will also be signposting and supporting children and their families to universal and other services once the intervention has ended., • It is essential that you are qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent, or working towards an appropriate qualification related to the provision of services to children and young people., • You will have experience of working in a statutory setting with children, young people and families, specifically where domestic abuse was a factor., • You must have an awareness and experience of risk assessment whilst preparing for and performing a task, and the ability to take appropriate action if risks are identified, • You will be working 3 or 4 days per week for a limited term, ending 31st March 2027., • Salary will be pro rata to hours worked., • Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced, • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post., • You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so you must have a full, valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or have an alternative means of travel.
