Role Summary To lead the strategic procurement of transportation services and manage end-to-end logistics operations to ensure cost-effective, timely, and sustainable movement of raw materials and finished products. This role ensures supplier performance, optimizes transport spend, and guarantees alignment with production and customer delivery schedules to support best in class customer service in a cost-efficient, safe, and compliant manner. Key Responsibilities: • Safety First - This role oversees Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management within logistics operations, including third-party providers. It involves leading by example, championing site safety rules, and fostering a positive safety culture that encourages reporting and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing robust safety processes, such as HSE inductions for drivers and logistics partners, to ensure all stakeholders operate with minimal risk and full compliance., • Procurement (Transport Focused) - This role leads transport procurement activities across inbound and outbound logistics, with a focus on developing and executing effective procurement strategies. Responsibilities include selecting and managing reliable transport partners across road, rail, and sea freight, and negotiating contracts and service level agreements. The role drives cost efficiency and service quality through tendering and benchmarking, while also monitoring market trends, risks, and regulatory changes to maintain compliance and competitiveness., • Logistics and Operations - This role oversees daily logistics operations, including order fulfilment, transport scheduling, and delivery performance. It ensures hauliers operate in line with safety, load security, and operational procedures, while coordinating closely with production, warehousing, and customer service to align logistics with demand. Responsibilities include implementing systems and KPIs to monitor delivery lead times, freight costs, and carrier performance, as well as optimising routing, load consolidation, and modal choices to reduce carbon footprint and improve service levels. Adherence to safety, environmental, and legal transport regulations is essential., • Data & Reporting - Responsible for maintaining accurate logistics and freight spend data to support effective reporting and analysis. This role involves producing regular dashboards and performance reports for senior management, highlighting progress against key KPIs. It also includes the use of transport management systems (TMS) or ERP modules such as SAP or Oracle to manage and optimise logistics workflows., • Continuous Improvement - Leads initiatives focused on enhancing cost-efficiency, service reliability, and sustainability within transport operations. Collaborates with internal teams and external partners to drive innovation across the logistics function. Actively contributes to cross-functional projects, such as packaging optimisation to improve truck utilisation and supply chain digitisation efforts., • Leadership - Provides strong, values-driven leadership to foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high employee engagement. Champions the company’s core values—Efficiency, Pride, Understanding, and Ambition—ensuring they are embedded within the team. Key responsibilities include managing and developing personnel through effective performance management practices such as appraisals, training, and improvement plans. Regular team briefings are maintained to promote clear communication, alignment, and engagement across the team., • Key Performance Indicators - Accountable for managing key logistics KPIs to optimize, measure, and track performance in critical operational areas. This includes monitoring cost per tonne and per mile, On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery, transport-related claims and incidents, capacity planning, procurement compliance, contract coverage, and adherence to delivery and collection time slot management., • Other - Responsible for developing and managing the area of operation in line with approved standard operating instructions within the ISO9001 Quality Management System. Focuses on driving operational efficiency, continuous improvement, and optimal use of facilities and resources. Manages relationships with suppliers, hauliers, production, and the wider logistics team to ensure smooth collaboration. Expected to meet or exceed agreed performance objectives, adhere to all company policies and procedures, and perform any other reasonable duties as required. Requirements: • Bachelor’s or Honours Degree Qualified, • Minimum 5 years’ experience within a senior Logistics Management role, • Ability to communicate clearly, persuasively and network at all levels., • CIPS, APICS, or equivalent supply chain certification. (Desirable), • ISOH / NEBOSH, • Member of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, • Ability to work with Windows and Microsoft Office software applications, • Effective use of Intranet and Email system., • Strong Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems, • Good Appreciation of Transportation Management Systems, (e.g. SAP TMS, Paragon Routing & Scheduling, Transporeon), • Turkish (desirable but not essential), • Understanding of Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement, • Implementation of systems and processes, • Ability to maintain accuracy and volume demands, • Ability to encourage and inspire others to achieve common goals, • Ability to work under pressure and constantly achieve goals Working Conditions: The role will initially be working within a project environment as we construct, commission and start-up the facility. The role is fully site based, some travel may be required domestically and Internationally but this will be minimal.
