Job Description Job Title: Custom Fabricator/Welder Job Description This role focuses on completing custom welding projects in a timely and precise manner for a variety of customers. You will interpret blueprints, fabricate components from raw materials, and primarily perform high-quality MIG welding on carbon steel, with occasional TIG welding, to assemble pre-built kits and custom parts to exact specifications. Responsibilities • Complete custom welding projects within agreed timeframes while maintaining high quality standards., • Interpret and follow engineering blueprints to weld together pre-built kits into finished assemblies., • Build high-quality welded parts from blueprints with a low rejection rate and in accordance with all specified tolerances., • Produce parts from sheet metal, plate, bar stock, and aluminum to create required components, with approximately 90% of work involving carbon steel., • Perform MIG welding for the majority of tasks, with occasional TIG welding as project requirements dictate., • Use OTC welding equipment and related tools safely and effectively to complete welding assignments., • Work from sketches and drawings, with guidance, to fabricate parts that meet dimensional and quality requirements., • Interpret and apply weld callouts on blueprints to ensure correct weld size, type, and location., • Adjust work approach and pace to accommodate custom kits that may take from a few hours to up to a week to complete, depending on complexity., • 5+ years of hands-on welding experience, with a strong focus on MIG welding (robotic welding experience alone does not qualify)., • Proficiency in MIG welding on carbon steel, with the ability to consistently produce clean, structurally sound welds., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately, including dimensions, tolerances, and weld symbols., • Demonstrated ability to build high-quality welded parts from blueprints with a low rejection rate., • Capability to maintain tight tolerances and specifications as detailed on engineering blueprints., • Experience producing parts from sheet metal, plate, bar stock, and aluminum using appropriate welding and fabrication techniques., • Strong teamwork skills, with a proven track record as a reliable, honest, and collaborative team player., • Preferred 4–5 years of recent MIG welding experience in a fabrication or production environment., • Experience with weld callouts and the ability to interpret and apply weld symbols on drawings., • TIG welding experience for occasional projects and specialty applications., • Experience working from sketches and less detailed drawings, with guidance, to produce accurate parts., • Familiarity with OTC welding equipment or similar industrial welding machines. Work Environment The role is based in a modern, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility equipped with OTC welding machines and contemporary fabrication tools. The primary material is carbon steel, with additional work involving sheet metal, plate, bar stock, and aluminum. Shifts are structured to support work-life balance, with 1 position available on 1st shift and 4 positions on 3rd shift. The 1st shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The 3rd shift runs from 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. The environment emphasizes safety, precision, and teamwork, with a steady mix of projects where custom kits can range from a few hours to a full week to complete, depending on complexity. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
