Job DescriptionPrimary Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist – Traveler Alternate / Related Job Titles: • Medical Technologist (MT) – Traveler, • Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Travel, • Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT), • Position Type: Contract, • Contract Duration: Approximately 4 months, • Start: As Soon As Possible, • Shift/Hours: 3rd Shift (Nights) — Eastern Time ZoneJob SummaryThe Medical Laboratory Scientist – Traveler performs high-complexity clinical laboratory testing while ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role supports patient care by analyzing specimens, reviewing and releasing results, and maintaining strict adherence to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory quality standards.Key Responsibilities, • Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, testing, reporting, and recordkeeping, • Maintain proficiency testing records and ensure samples are handled the same as patient specimens, • Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures and department SOPs, • Review, validate, and release test results, • Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and all laboratory safety guidelines, • Document quality control activities, calibrations, maintenance, and corrective actions, • Identify test system issues, correct deviations, or escalate to senior staff as required, • Report STAT and critical results according to departmental procedures, • Maintain complete testing records and general departmental organization, • Verify reagent and test kit dating, expiration, and open dates, • Review and train on new procedures; attend monthly department and training meetings, • Participate in safety training and regulatory inspections as needed, • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisionRequired Knowledge & Skills, • Strong understanding of clinical laboratory testing principles, • Knowledge of QC/QA processes across all laboratory areas, • Ability to work within multiple computer systems, • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy, • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple procedures simultaneously, • Effective communication and customer service skills, • Commitment to patient confidentiality at all timesEducation & Certification, • Education (one of the following):, • BS in Medical Technology (preferred), • BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, • Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, • Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433, • Certification:, • MLS/MT/MLT certification preferred (ASCP or AMT), • Foreign-Educated Candidates: Credential evaluation required from IERF, • U.S.-Educated Candidates: Original detailed transcripts requiredExperience & Licensure, • Experience:, • 1+ year of clinical laboratory experience preferred, • High-complexity testing experience required for Chemistry/Biology degrees, • Licensure:, • National and state licensure as requiredSpecial Requirements, • COVID-19 Vaccination: Required, • Interaction with other departments and clients as needed, • Strong customer service and interpersonal skillsBenefits, • Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans, • 401(k) Retirement FundAbout the CompanyA leading provider of diagnostic information services, empowering healthier lives through advanced data and testing capabilities.
