WORK SCHEDULE * 9-15 hours per week. * Monday through Friday -- 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Motivate students to be active daily. * Ensure daily activity lesson plans and projects are structured, age-appropriate, and have clear learning goals based on the provided sports and physical activity guide. * Maintain communication with the Program Director and Center for Sports and Wellness regarding the calendar of programs, leagues, tournaments, and special events. * Motivate and encourage students to participate in organization-wide sports activities. * Establish and enforce safety rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible. * Instruct participants on the activities' principles, techniques, and safety procedures and show how to use materials and equipment properly. * Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students. * Prepare facilities for group activities. * Evaluate activities to determine if they are producing the desired results. * Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' needs and interests. * Promote and ensure the progressive development of student skills * Promotes positive character development in all youth * Most New York Edge Basketball Specialists are expected to provide support during Academic hours. * Adapt each activity to ensure safe participation in the space provided. Our flagship Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) program provides paid transitional work experience, transitional housing, advanced occupational training, and comprehensive supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The Doe Fund is also one of New York City’s largest nonprofit developers of permanent affordable and supportive housing, with more than 1,900 units in operation or pre-development. The Doe Fund has an annual operating budget of $80 million and a full-time staff of nearly 500, a significant portion of whom are graduates of our programs. We are seeking a Part-Time Residence Manager for the Crotona Park residence which is The Doe Fund's newest permanent supportive housing program for men and women. The population will be a mix of seniors, formerly homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS, individuals diagnosed with a mental illness, and/or substance abuse. The program is designed to provide long-term residential care and twenty-four-hour support services in a community environment that maximizes residents' independence while ensuring their physical and emotional security and well-being. The majority of Crotona Park residents will be referred by the New York City HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) and some by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). The Part-Time Residence Manager is responsible for the supervision of the residents and the overall operation of the facility during designated shifts. S/he will work collaboratively with the Clinical team and the Program Director to ensure that resident needs are being met, as well as the safety of the facility. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills along with an understanding of working with the HIV/AIDS population, including seniors. We are seeking a Full-Time Resident Manager for The Doe Fund's newest permanent supportive housing for homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS. The program is designed to provide long-term residential care and twenty-four-hour support services in a community environment that maximizes residents' independence while ensuring their physical and emotional security and well-being. This 98-unit residence will provide housing for 49 individuals referred by the New York City HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA), and the rest 49 units will be apartments for moderate-income households. The Resident Manager is responsible for the supervision of the residents and the overall operation of the facility during designated shifts. S/he will work collaboratively with the Clinical team and the Program Director to ensure that resident needs are being met as well as the safety of the facility. YOU WILL: • Elevate and motivate Chef’s-in-Training by modeling culinary expertise, warm hospitality, and a great attitude., • Train fellow teammates on each station, following station diagrams, pars & station prep to ensure consistency., • Demonstrate mastery of every station by consistently executing all seasonal menu offerings according to the recipes, procedures, and standards of The Pantry., • Manage prep lists, waste logs and participate in food inventory while staying in close contact with your Chef de Cuisine to ensure your walk-in is fully-stocked and organized., • Learn all restaurant ordering systems [Food, paper etc] to support the CDC in maintaining appropriate pars needed for service., • Run and execute successful restaurant shift management by writing a smart deployment, delegating work appropriately to the team and following scheduled deployment and breaks., • Successfully open and close the restaurant using the checklists and thorough communication with the previous days leaders to best prepare for a steady shift., • Participate in team building through interview shadowing, contributing to the Chef’s table agenda, providing feedback to CITs, and leading preshift., • Operate the expeditor / computer station to ensure that food presentation and order accuracy is met for all walk-in, pick-up and delivery orders., • Troubleshoot and create solutions regarding guest concerns, digital ordering, and equipment maintenance., • Help to maintain the “A” lettergrade by following Department of Health and DIG food safety standards., • 1+ year leadership experience in a culinary environment., • The ability to perform physical requirements of the position (frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds). These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations., • Food Safety Certification., • A desire to create exceptional employee & guest experiences., • An eye for detail and solving challenges., • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written., • The willingness to roll up your sleeves and pitch in wherever necessary.
