Job Description The Senior Director of Community Engagement provides enterprise-level leadership for Goodwill Central Texas’s community partnerships, employer relations, and resource development strategy, ensuring strong alignment across Mission Services, Workforce Advancement, Retail, Development, Social Enterprise, and Executive Leadership. This role translates the organization’s 10-Year Vision and 3-Year Aspirational Goals—particularly the advancement of Community Needs Centers—into actionable engagement, partnership, and resource development strategies. Serving as a key connector and external ambassador, the Senior Director positions Goodwill Central Texas as a trusted community hub by cultivating high-impact relationships with nonprofits, employers, funders, government agencies, and civic leaders. The role provides strategic oversight of employer relations and grant writing functions, partners with executive leadership establishing clear goals and metrics to drive accountability, sustainability, and measurable community impact. Enterprise Leadership & Cross Functional Integration • Provide senior leadership for enterprise-wide community engagement, ensuring strong coordination across Mission Services, Workforce Advancement, Retail, Development, Social Enterprise, and Executive Leadership., • Translate Goodwill Central Texas’s 10-Year Vision and 3-Year Aspirational Goals—particularly those related to Community Needs Centers—into actionable external engagement and partnership strategies., • Champion collaboration, accountability, and clarity across cross-functional initiatives in alignment with EOS operating principles., • Position Goodwill Central Texas as a trusted, visible, and indispensable community partner, advancing its role as a hub for education, workforce development, and community needs that complement education and employment., • Cultivate, steward, and expand high-impact relationships with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, funders, employers, civic leaders, and community coalitions., • Lead engagement strategies that build community understanding, trust, and buy-in for emerging initiatives, including Community Needs Centers., • Serve as a primary strategic partner to executive leadership in planning, socializing, and advancing the Community Needs Center model, from concept through readiness., • Lead relationship-building efforts to secure nonprofit, public-sector, philanthropic, and employer partners critical to Community Needs Center success., • Support the development and execution of funding strategies for Community Needs Centers, including philanthropic gifts, public-sector funding, and collaborative partnerships., • Conduct partner vetting, landscape analysis, and best-practice benchmarking to ensure Community Needs Centers complement—rather than duplicate—existing community services., • Support pilot planning and launch readiness for Community Needs Centers in alignment with 2026–2028 organizational goals. Employer Relations & Workforce Partnerships • Oversee the employer-relations function of the organization, strengthening relationships with businesses and employers across Central Texas., • Work in alignment with the Social Enterprise sales team to ensure the “go to market” messaging is consistent and complimentary., • Identify and cultivate employers interested in customized training pipelines, specialized hiring initiatives, and inclusive workforce strategies., • Partner closely with Workforce Advancement and Education teams to align employer needs with program design, credentialing, and placement outcomes., • Establish and monitor clear goals, KPIs, and success metrics related to community engagement, partnerships, employer relations, and philanthropic growth., • Use data, partner feedback, and outcomes measurement to continuously refine engagement and fundraising strategies., • Identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities in workforce development, revenue generation, and community services to inform leadership and board decision-making., • Ensure community engagement and development efforts advance Goodwill Central Texas’s long-term sustainability, credibility, and mission impact. Supervisory Responsibility This position has overall responsibility for leading, supervising, and developing the Community Engagement Department, comprised of Business Solutions, Grant Writing, and Community Partnership Development roles. Required Skills & Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Social Work, Community Development, Workforce Development, Education, Public Policy, or a closely related field., • At least seven years of management experience, preferably leading workforce development and grant writing and/or revenue generation for workforce programming., • Track record of building relationships with business leaders, community leaders, workforce development agencies, and public agencies., • Must embrace the mission of transforming lives by empowering people through education, career training, and work., • Demonstrate organizational and divisional values, ethics and integrity., • Be organized and follow through on tasks and goals., • Leadership-level experience in strategic and tactical planning., • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to foster collaboration and build unity. Experience in managing diverse staff., • Ability to identify, plan, and execute on revenue-generating opportunities through grants, fee-for-service, and/or pay for performance structures., • Excellent customer service and written/oral communications and proofreading skills., • Must be able to work well in a nimble, fast-paced, team-oriented environment., • Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members, and other volunteers. Physical Requirements • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer., • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times., • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear., • The ability to cope with and tolerate moderate levels of stress is also a necessity. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
