Who You Are You are a dedicated and experienced Social Studies teacher who excels in planning, organizing, and implementing a rigorous instructional program. At Cristo Rey Orlando High School, you will design and deliver engaging lessons aligned to academic standards, school-wide expectations, and a clear pacing guide to ensure students experience meaningful, bell-to-bell instruction. Your approach will focus on creating a purposeful classroom environment where every moment supports student growth and deepens their understanding of social studies content. With your strong instructional expertise, you will continuously assess student progress, provide meaningful feedback, and adjust instruction to meet the diverse needs of your learners. This Role Cristo Rey Orlando High School is seeking a dedicated Social Studies teacher to join an innovative, dynamic, and mission-driven school that values both its faculty and students. In this role, you will plan, organize, and implement a rigorous instructional program aligned to academic standards, school-wide expectations, and a clear pacing guide. As a member of the Cristo Rey Orlando faculty, you will play a key role in facilitating student learning, continuously assessing progress, and contributing to the development of the schools social studies curriculum. Your focus will be on creating a classroom environment that emphasizes bell-to-bell instruction, ensuring students are consistently engaged, challenged, and supported. You will implement targeted support and enrichment strategies to help students grow academically and reach their full potential. In addition to teaching, faculty members at Cristo Rey Orlando supervise students, ensuring their safety and compliance with school expectations, while actively contributing to the holistic development of the schools program of studies. You will strive to teach and model being men and women for others, interacting positively and compassionately with students and offering both academic and personal guidance. Preference is given to candidates who are eager to engage fully in the school community by moderating clubs, coaching athletic teams, and serving as adult leaders on retreats, all while upholding and celebrating the schools faith-based identity. Responsibilities include: • Develop Rigorous Lessons: Create and deliver culturally relevant, challenging lessons that align with the Advanced Placement Human Geography curriculum as outlined by the College Board, including adherence to the pacing guide and guidelines., • Curriculum Writing and Analysis: Regularly develop and update course materials using backward planning, assessment data, and ongoing curriculum analysis to meet the needs of all students while staying true to College Board standards., • Engaging Classroom Environment: Foster an engaging, dynamic classroom that challenges students while accommodating their diverse learning styles., • High Academic Expectations: Maintain high academic standards for all students, providing the support and challenges needed for them to reach their full potential., • Family Engagement: Build strong relationships with families to ensure open communication and collaboration in supporting student success., • Student Support: Offer regular office hours for additional instruction and personalized support for students., • Professional Development: Continuously grow as an educator by collaborating with colleagues, participating in professional development, and both giving and receiving feedback., • Mission Commitment: Embrace the school's mission to inspire and prepare students from underserved backgrounds to succeed in college and lead their communities as compassionate, committed, and competent individuals for the greater glory of God., • Pastoral Involvement: Actively participate in the school's religious life, demonstrating care and pastoral support for students., • Other Responsibilities: Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principal. The Social Studies teacher reports to and will work directly with the founding Principal and Founding Assistant Principal and Collaborate with the Coordinator of Academic Support and Learning. They will have an immediate impact and will manage new projects and initiatives, as well as maintain existing ones. This summary does not describe all job duties. Required Qualifications • You hold a Bachelor's Degree Social Studies or a related field, with a minimum of 12 credit hours in education preferred. A Masters Degree is a plus., • You have a Permanent Teacher Certification in the subject area., • You bring 3-5 years of teaching experience, with experience in marginalized communities being a strong advantage., • You have training in Geography education, Social Studies, Advanced Placement teaching strategies, or working with students with special needsthis is preferred but not required., • You are able to pass a background screening., • Youre proficient in using technology in the classroom to enhance student learning., • Youre committed to consistent, on-time attendance for supervising and instructing students., • You appreciate and support the schools unique mission and are committed to the values of faith-based education., • You are dedicated to upholding the mission of the school as defined by the Cristo Rey Network Mission Effectiveness Standards., • You maintain professional attire daily, contributing to a respectful and serious learning environment., • Youre regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and climb stairs. You can operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment. Occasionally, you may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Preferred Experience and Skills • Strong knowledge and experience in teaching Advanced Placement Social Studies, with a thorough understanding of the College Board curriculum, pacing guide, and exam requirements., • Ability to develop and implement an Social Studies curriculum that aligns with College Board standards while incorporating real-world applications and engaging teaching strategies to enhance student learning., • Experience in utilizing AP-specific assessments and data to monitor student progress, adjust instruction, and ensure students are well-prepared for the AP exam., • Ability to support at-risk students by developing individualized academic plans and working collaboratively with peers, parents, and the leadership team to ensure student success in Social Studies., • Proficient in educational technology, data analysis tools, and student performance tracking to improve curriculum effectiveness and optimize student outcomes in AP coursework., • Familiarity with AP exam preparation resources and strategies to support students in achieving high scores on the Social Studies exam., • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred to better engage with a diverse school community., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other relevant technology platforms for curriculum planning, communication, and student data management.
