Job Description ACADEMY FOR NURSING AND HEALTH OCCUPATIONS Assistant Academic Dean This position requires a high degree of trustworthiness and confidentiality and excellent interpersonal skills with staff, faculty, students, community representatives and professional colleagues in all settings. The person in this position must exhibit a pleasant, helpful and supportive demeanor at all times and must have the ability to develop, manage, mentor and direct students and faculty. Job Requirements: • The person in this position is a Registered Nurse, licensed by the State of Florida, with a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field with a minimum of five years’ experience as a Registered Nurse, two years teaching and two years management experience Duties are to assist the Academic Dean with the following: • Faculty to report to the day/evening shift nursing coordinator respectively, • Support services for corresponding shift (i.e. student and faculty guidance and mentorship), • Providing educational guidance and assistance for students and faculty by determining appropriate education solutions, • Ensure advancement of students and faculty (i.e. student progression and faculty development), • Responsible for completing Advisement and Academic counseling to students at the end of each term including Training Related Job Placement Counseling., • Assist instructors and intervene as necessary with student Academic Advisement plans throughout program, • Provide advisement, and tools to assist at-risk students to encourage their success and retention, • Orient new employees to policy/procedure, curriculum, mission, philosophy, vision, etc., • Mentor Faculty on a continual basis, • Evaluate employees at 90-day and annual intervals. Provide improvement techniques and corrective action plans, • Offer continual encouragement to faculty and students recognizing strengths and accomplishments, • Develop faculty to instruct in accordance with Student Learning Outcomes and modify teaching as the data indicates, • Develop faculty to assess clinical and didactic assignments in relation to Student Learning Outcomes and modify teaching as the data indicates, • Responsible for managing Faculty assignments, schedules, and timesheets, • Responsible for tracking student attendance and follow up when students are absent, • Responsible for health documents for Faculty and students, • Ensure adherence to syllabus/lesson plans/schedules, etc., • Ensure timely submission of reports:, • Comply with State, National, and Accreditation standards, • Ensure faculty compliance with Accreditation Procedures/Processes and Standards, • Encourage instructors to engage students in the quest for excellence and self-improvement, • Ensure equipment is appropriate and available and the environment is safe and clean according to standards., • Provide classroom instruction and clinical coverage in an emergency, • Intervene in student and faculty inquiries/complaints/appeals as needed and as part of the “Chain of Command”, • Assist with the proctoring of exams if and when needed including ADA accommodations, • Assist with the organization of clinical orientation paperwork when needed (i.e. Martin Memorial Packet), • Responsible for completing the paper and online National Council Licensure Examination registration process for CNA, PN and ADN students including tracking and follow up as it relates to Satisfactory Progress., • Procure and maintain clinical affiliation sites including maintenance of contracts, contacts, and insurance documentation, • Understand and utilize the CCPS clinical scheduling system for assigning clinical rotations, • Assist with managing remediation strategies for all programs and courses as part of curriculum review, • Responsible for curating and maintaining positive relationships with Director of Nurses and/or Directors of Education at ANHO’s affiliating agencies, • Responsible for assisting students with gathering background documentation in order to clear students for enrollment into the program, • Assist the Academic Dean with advisory meetings, student meetings, graduation ceremonies, accreditation compliance, and coordinating community events, • Responsible for clinical agency satisfaction; follow up with any agency that may express dissatisfaction and work with the Academic Dean and Executive Director to resolve concerns, • Responsible for reviewing fist day paperwork for completion and accuracy, applying applicable data to program initiatives, and submitting to the Registrar within 30 days, • Other duties as may be assigned, • Assist Academic Dean as needed and upon request. Environment and Physical Demands: This position requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, handling, and stretching, frequent interruptions from staff, faculty, and students. Must be able to work in a busy environment at the college while supervising clinical sites or in the simulation lab.
