We are searching for an attentive and devoted kennel attendant to oversee the cleanliness and well-being of our dogs. NO EXPERIENCED NEEDED. We will teach you everything you need to know. This position will be part-time.
Responsibilities
We have a climate controlled indoor dog kennel, which is approximately 800 square feet, and an outdoor kennel roughly 1,750 square feet (dog run). The kennel attendant's responsibilities will be to clean the dog run and the individual kennel areas. We will also require the attendant to provide food and water to the dogs.
To ensure success as a kennel attendant, you should be able to anticipate and tend to the needs of animals. Ultimately, a top-notch kennel attendant will be able to tailor their care according to animals' physical, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. [OUR DOGS ARE NOT AGGRESSIVE]
Kennel Attendant Responsibilities:
• Transporting dogs to and from their kennel.
• Ensuring that the dogs always have fresh food and water.
• Cleaning animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris from the kennels.
• The daily disposal of trash.
• Accompanying dogs on walks.
• Calming dogs who are in distress.
• Adjusting the air temperature to ensure that the dogs remain comfortable.
• Reporting significant changes of kennel operations to the Kennel Master.
• Ensure that each of our dogs are treated with respect and dignity.
• Ensure that all dogs are receiving appropriate amounts of food and water, clean and sanitize food/water bowls daily.
• Clean up dog poop, urination, and any vomit during each shift.
• Walk dogs on leash to and from outside areas.
• Engage in play activities with pets including fetch, exercise walks, chase, agility, follow the leader, recall and basic obedience games, etc.
• Supervise activities of multiple dogs throughout the day
• Monitor closely for any potential conflicts or escalations and redirect or remove one or more dogs from the situation as needed.
• Maintain a sanitary and healthy environment by following our standards of cleaning and disinfecting rooms.
• Dispose of and clean up any stool and urine.
• Ensure the facility meets or exceeds our expectations with regards to cleanliness and safety
• Clean and sanitize all pet enclosures, exercise yards, and common areas.
• Mix and use disinfectants and other chemicals safely as instructed by the Kennel Master.
• Ensure that the property is maintained (lawn care, snow removal, tree maintenance)
• Alert manager when levels of inventory are low in the following areas: Pet Food, Cleaning Supplies.
• Help maintain the cleanliness of the property by picking up and disposing of trash or debris.
• Keep aisles, drains, carts, shelves, sinks, floors, furniture, counters and glass clean, sanitary and free of clutter/debris.
• Empty and sanitize trash cans and receptacles.
• Forceful, aversive, aggressive handling, vocalizing or treatment will not be tolerated. Kennel Attendant Requirements:
• Applicants shall be at least 16 years of age.
• Shall be able to speak and write the English language.
• Must have reliable means of transportation.
• Legal to work in the United States.
• A US checking or Savings account to receive payroll checks.
• A cellular phone.
• Previous experience caring for animals will be advantageous.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Physically fit and agile.
• Capacity to lift to 60 pounds unaided.
• Available to work during early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Must be willing to train for a minimum of 10 shifts each (morning and evening) before working alone.
• A passion for animals and animal care, especially dogs.
• Willing to learn animal behavior to ensure their safety.
• Focuses on safe and gentle handling.
• Must be able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends.

• Must be comfortable being around dogs of all sizes and physically able to handle dogs of all sizes.
Wages • New hires will train for the first 10 shifts (mornings and evenings). Wages will be hourly at precisely $10/hr.
• After training, by the direction of the Kennel Master and Owner, employees will earn $15/hr.
• After the first 6 months, based on promptness and performance, the employee will be reviewed for a pay increase.
• Snowstorm Bullies, LLC does not pay payroll taxes; therefore, you will be given a 1099 at the end of the calendar year.
