Job Description CRESTVIEW LANDSCAPE Position Description Position Title: Chief Operations Officer Reports To: CEO / Owner Works Closely With: CEO/Owner / Department Managers / Staff Department: Executive Employment Type: Full-Time | Exempt Location: On-Site | Field-Accessible Company Overview Crestview Landscape is a growing landscape construction and maintenance firm with a strong reputation for client dedication, service, quality, and performance. The company provides services to mostly general contractors, landscape architects, designers, and homeowners in the high end residential market. Projects typically range between $ 200K to $ 4M with some falling below or above those limits on occasion. For key clients, the company will perform, from time to time, high end commercial installations. As well as new construction work, Crestview also provides maintenance services to select residential and commercial properties that fall within in its target market segment. Position Summary The COO will be the senior operating executive responsible for administering the company’s short term and long term directives as established by the CEO/Owner. The COO will have day-to-day operational and performance responsibilities in meeting the company’s strategic and visionary directives. This will include ownership of department KPI’s, goals, initiatives, as well as responsibility in ensuring company SOPs are adhered to daily. With the company’s revenue target of $ 25M and beyond, Crestview understands the need for someone who can focus daily on ensuring the team members and organizational operations of the company meet the requirements of our valued clients and partners. Someone who can take the reins of the operations and ensure consistency of excellence is maintained. While being a visionary is an added plus, 90% of thus role will be around operational skills and abilities. Combining & leveraging resources & staffing in a meaningful, effective, and efficient manner will be paramount. The CEO/Owner brings decades of industry knowledge, skills, and experience that will support & provide guidance to the COO. Key will be a collaborative COO who can work with ownership / staff in not only providing & giving insight & directives but also being open minded and capable of taking direction / directives. As the company is growing, someone who can be open, reflective, analytical, and ultimately a change agent will be crucial to Crestview’s short and long term success. Organizational Context The COO reports directly to the CEO/Owner. The COO has authority over all day to day business operations and direct or indirect oversight of: • Finance & Accounting, • Sales & Estimating, • Field Operations (Installation * Maintenance), • Human Resources / Legal, • Safety & Compliance, • Fleet, Equipment & Facilities Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership • Own and manage the full scope of daily business operations across all departments, • Establish clear workflows, accountability structures, and operational standards, • Drive change initiatives & process / operational improvement efforts from inception through completion • Ensure consistent execution of safety protocols and regulatory compliance across all field operations Financial Performance • Manage the company P&L and maintain a minimum Net Profit Margin of 8%, • Own cash flow management, budget adherence, and financial forecasting, • Partner with the CEO/Owner on annual budget development and capital allocation decisions, • Identify cost efficiencies without compromising quality or crew/client experience Revenue Growth • Support growth initiatives of both installation & maintenance ensuring operational plans and objectives are being followed. • Collaborate with the CEO and sales team to identify and convert new business opportunities, • Build the operational infrastructure to support Crestview's growth trajectory People & Culture • Foster a unified, high-performance culture aligned to Crestview's mission, values, and goals. Culture is critical to Crestview Landscape, and this individual must be excellent at being supportive and a consensus builder. • Lead, develop, and hold accountable all department managers and functional leaders, • Champion recruitment, onboarding, retention, and employee development programs, • Serve as a visible, accessible, and energizing presence for staff at all levels — from office to field Client & Stakeholder Relations • Support and drive initiatives & operational practices that help maintain and strengthen key client relationships in partnership with the CEO • Ensure client satisfaction, issue resolution, and contract performance standards are consistently met, • Represent Crestview professionally in the community and within the landscape industry Strategic Execution • Translate ownership's vision into executable operational plans with clear milestones and accountability • Monitor KPIs across all departments; provide regular performance reporting to the Owner, • Identify and escalate risks early; propose solutions rather than just problems Qualifications & Experience Mandatory Requirements • 5 + years of progressive management & leadership experience in an industry associated with providing high level service to clients via building / manufacturing / creating a finished product thru use of staff, materials, vendors, subcontractors, and various resources elements. • Have led a multi departmental / organization with over $ 15M in revenue / expense ownership with a minimum of 100 employees whom their performance and management were your responsibility. • Possess a strong sense of urgency as well as an innate discipline for organizational compliance., • Strong financial acumen — ability to formulate & analyze relationships between numbers and see the forest thru the trees. • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams, • Exceptional interpersonal & communication skills. Effective up and down the organization from the field staff to the admin staff, to ownership. Strongly Preferred • Background in construction / supply chain / manufacturing, • Prior executive level experience as a COO, President, CFO, or CEO, • Experience scaling a company through a significant growth phase, • Financial experience with full understanding of P& L Statements, Balance Sheet, and WIP Reporting, • Working knowledge of HR best practices, safety compliance (OSHA), and workforce management Education • Bachelor's degree in business, Construction Management, or related field preferred, • Equivalent experience in lieu of formal education will be considered Core Competencies The ideal candidate demonstrates strength in the following areas: • Unity & Alignment — Ability to create shared purpose and direction across diverse teams Brings people together around common goals; builds trust at every level of the organization. • Execution & Follow-Through — Sees initiatives to completion, not just initiation Closes the loop. Performance Expectations The COO will be evaluated against the following key metrics and milestones: • Company staff KPIs goals., • Company operational policies, procedures, and compliances, • Company culture / staff development & retention goals, • Meet or exceed annual operational profit goals, • Meet or exceed annual growth goals Compensation & Benefits Crestview Landscape offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, including: • Starting annual salary of up to $ 225,000 depending upon skills, abilities, & experience., • Defined performance-based bonus of 15-20% of base salary tied to company KPI’s / Profitability., • Discretionary based bonus of up to 10% of base salary for extemporary performance outside of KPI’s., • Comprehensive benefits package (Health ins, 401(K), etc.), • Vehicle allowance or company vehicle, • Unlimited Vacation Policy and Holiday Pay Compensation details will be discussed directly with qualified candidates during the interview process.
