Job DescriptionDescription: JOB TITLE Show Shop Technician WORK LOCATION Burbank, CA SCHEDULE Monday – Friday; 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, or as needed GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: We are looking for Show Shop Technician candidates who are ready to help create next-gen physical entertainment experiences. We are looking for sharp, problem-solving technicians with well-rounded multidiscipline fabrication skillsets. Film industry, live event, and/or theater experience is desired – people who can thrive in projects on fast timelines, where minimal instruction and direction is provided to achieve first-class results. This role reports directly to the Show Systems Leader, and is composite to a larger team of diverse skillsets. Core Responsibilities: • Assist in the development and fabrication of precision technical and theatrical mockups in different scales and utilizing multiple materials., • Responsible for maintaining high degree of safety, organization, and cleanliness of the shop and tools, • Daily assessment of shop supplies and machinery condition, • Ability to work both on teams and individually, • Ability to maintain high standard of project confidentiality, • Willingness to learn and teach new methods and skills as applicable Minimum Requirements: • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and clients effectively, • Looking for persons with a positive, collaborative, non-competitive nature, • Experienced in precision prototype/mockup fabrication with emphasis in technical theatre, • Experienced with modern computer-aided workflows both for design as well as manufacturing, • Able to follow basic fabrication drawings, • Basic theatrical/film rigging, • Broad mechanical aptitude, • Basic electronic wiring and soldering, • Demonstrated knowledge of basic shop machinery. At a minimum individual should be comfortable with the following machines and processes., • Chop saw, • Table saw, • Band saw – wood, metal, plastics, • Drill press – wood, metal, plastics, • Use of common hand tools (employer provided), • Use of screw-guns (Makita, Dewalt, Milwaukee, etc.), • Grinders/sanders, • Simple clamp and jig setups Desired Experience • Experience in the coordination, designing, building, programming and installation of A/V, lighting, projection, and other technical production equipment., • 3D printing, (SLA, FDM, SLS), • Laser Cutting, • Manual lathe operations, • Manual milling operations, • MIG/TIG welding (steel); aluminum a plus., • CNC setups, • Manual drilling/tapping operations, • Knowledge of practical special effects and magic/illusion principles., • Familiarity with basic Fusion, SketchUp, Rhino, Inventor, or other 3D modeling software., • Experience with soft goods, such as foam, rubber/silicone, vinyl, • Experience with 2-part catalyzed paint systems, • OSHA-30 Certified, • Forklift certification, • Lift/other certs AOA Company Information About Us From hospitals and astronaut training facilities to restaurants, hotels, and attractions, AOA creates memorable and purpose-driven destinations that surpass expectations and resonate across audiences.
