Job Description Job Title: Automotive Assembler Job Description The automotive assembler, also known as a powertrain technician, is responsible for building, testing, diagnosing, and repairing the internal components that generate and deliver power in a vehicle. This role involves the installation of various mechanical and electrical components within the automotive assembly process. Responsibilities • Install mechanical components such as brackets, suspension and steering components, doors, seating systems, HVAC units, fasteners, and hardware., • Install AC units, windshields, and final flooring, and assist in other assembly departments., • Perform torque-controlled fastening using calibrated tools., • Align and fit components to meet dimensional and functional requirements., • Identify and report fitment issues, damaged parts, or drawing discrepancies., • Route, secure, and terminate electrical wiring and cable harnesses., • Install electrical components including switches, lighting, displays, sensors, batteries, and control modules., • Perform crimping, stripping, and connector installation in accordance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 or equivalent standards., • Conduct basic electrical continuity and functional checks., • Install fiberglass body panels, roof caps, access doors, insulation, and exterior trim., • Drill, bond, seal, and fasten composite components using adhesives, sealants, and mechanical fasteners., • Perform minor surface prep, trimming, sanding, and finishing as required., • Ensure proper panel alignment, gaps, and cosmetic appearance., • Use hand and power tools, basic measuring tools, templates, and jigs., • Follow work instructions, drawings, torque specs, and quality checkpoints., • Complete in-process inspections and document work as required., • Support quality investigations, rework, and corrective actions., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S principles. Essential Skills • Experience with blueprint reading., • Proficient in MIG welding and general labor tasks., • Familiar with assembly, painting, and the use of hand tools., • Understanding of automotive repair and electronics., • Mechanically inclined with skills in mechanical and electrical assembly. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with fiberglass installation for bus front caps is a plus., • Ability to install finishing components like seat assemblies, lighting panels, and component enclosures., • Proficiency in applying finishing trims, moldings, and sealants., • Capability to clean and prepare buses for presentation. Schedule: Monday - Friday 6 AM - 2:30 PM must be flexible to work OT, possibly on Saturdsays Work Environment This position involves frequent use of hands and fingers for welding, grinding, and assembly tasks. You must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 40 lbs, with occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance. The role requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods. Hand-eye coordination is crucial for precise welding and fitting operations. The work environment may expose you to hot and cold temperatures, moderate to high noise levels, and welding fumes. Proper use of personal protective equipment, including a welding helmet, gloves, and protective clothing, is mandatory. The workplace adheres to strict safety procedures to manage exposure to sparks, molten metal, and moving machinery. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Riverside, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
