Job Description POSITION: Information Technology Specialist Position Overview The Information Technology Specialist is responsible for owning, maintaining, and optimizing JITECH's IT infrastructure to support daily operations and project execution across all departments. This role ensures the reliability, security, and performance of mission-critical systems, including servers, networks, virtual environments, and enterprise software, within a cloud-based and highly collaborative environment. Working within the Finance and IT function, the Information Technology Specialist plays a key role in enabling engineering and business teams to operate efficiently by ensuring seamless system functionality, data integrity, and secure access to digital tools. This position collaborates with internal stakeholders to support project delivery workflows, enhance system performance, and drive continuous improvement of IT processes and infrastructure. Key ResponsibilitiesIT Infrastructure and Systems Management • Maintain and monitor company servers, networks, and virtual machine environments to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and uptime., • Configure and manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and connectivity for office and remote users., • Ensure all systems, servers, and applications are updated, patched, and aligned with security and operational standards., • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network performance, server operations, and third-party service providers.Backup, Security, and Risk Management, • Develop, implement, and maintain company backup and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity., • Configure and manage backup systems, including Barracuda, and ensure successful execution and validation of backups., • Define and enforce IT security policies, including antivirus, anti-spam, and access control procedures., • Monitor systems for security threats and vulnerabilities, responding proactively to incidents and implementing corrective actions., • Conduct phishing simulations and support user awareness initiatives to strengthen cybersecurity practices.User and Cloud Environment Administration, • Manage Microsoft 365 environment, including user accounts, licenses, mail systems, and cloud infrastructure., • Configure SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams environments to support new and ongoing projects., • Assign and manage user access permissions, mail groups, and collaboration platforms., • Maintain virtual machine environments, ensuring users have secure, reliable, and up-to-date access to required systems and applications.Engineering and Business Software Support, • Maintain and support engineering software environments, including SDS2 servers, user VMs, and associated plugins., • Install updates, manage licenses, and troubleshoot issues related to SDS2 and related tools., • Administer Bluebeam software, including version control, user permissions, and issue resolution., • Ensure software environments are aligned with operational workflows and project requirements.Hardware, Network, and Equipment Management, • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, thin clients, and related equipment., • Manage inventory and lifecycle tracking of IT equipment across all company locations., • Coordinate procurement and quoting for new hardware and system upgrades as required., • Ensure all user workstations operate within the company's virtualized infrastructure standards.Systems Integration and Facility Technology, • Maintain and support IP phone systems (EPIGY), including configuration, user setup, and troubleshooting., • Manage facility-related systems, including camera servers, BlueIris software, and access control systems., • Configure system alerts, maintain updates, and ensure reliable operation of security and monitoring systems., • Maintain access logs and ensure traceability for operational and security purposes.Technical Support and Service Delivery, • Respond to and resolve IT support requests from employees in a timely, professional, and service-oriented manner., • Diagnose system issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective and sustainable solutions., • Communicate clearly with users regarding issue status, resolution steps, and system usage., • Support continuous improvement of IT service delivery, system reliability, and user experience.Qualifications, • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience., • Minimum 3+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure management roles., • Strong working knowledge of VMware, Microsoft Server environments, SharePoint, and cloud-based collaboration tools., • Experience with Barracuda backup systems, Cisco networking equipment, and IP telephony systems., • Familiarity with engineering software environments such as SDS2 and Bluebeam is considered an asset., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Planner., • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.Key Competencies, • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities., • High level of accountability and ownership of systems and performance., • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment., • Strong organizational and documentation skills., • Effective communication and collaboration across departments., • Commitment to system reliability, security, and continuous improvement.
