Job DescriptionJob Title: Mobile Engineer 2Job Description The Mobile Engineer 2 operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs facility equipment and building systems across multiple commercial sites within a defined regional territory. This role focuses on HVAC and general building maintenance while also supporting electrical, plumbing, and other facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. The position is based in the Baton Rouge area, with a coverage radius extending to the west side of New Orleans and the east side of Lafayette, and follows a Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule. Responsibilities • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment and building systems across multiple commercial facilities within the assigned territory., • Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire life safety, and control systems to keep facilities and building systems aligned with applicable standards., • Travel regularly between facilities in the Baton Rouge, New Orleans (west side), and Lafayette (east side) areas to ensure proper functioning of all assigned building systems., • Maintain responsibility for facility services, including preventive maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance coordination, general maintenance, and technical support., • Clean, inspect, calibrate, and replace parts on HVAC systems and associated equipment to maintain optimal performance and efficiency., • Record equipment readings, interpret data, and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems., • Analyze the operation of commercial or industrial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, identify causes of problems or malfunctions, and implement corrective actions., • Monitor the quality, scope, and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors to ensure compliance with standards and cost-effectiveness., • Perform periodic checks and maintain an accurate inventory of tools, instruments, and maintenance supplies., • Comply with departmental policies and procedures for the safe storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials, ensuring adherence to environmental and safety regulations., • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workplace, upholding good housekeeping practices in all work areas., • Recognize potential dangers and safety hazards in facilities and propose practical methods and solutions to eliminate or mitigate those risks., • Use computer applications such as Word and Excel to document work, maintain records, complete reports, and manage maintenance-related information., • Drive a company-provided vehicle safely between sites, adhering to all traffic laws and maintaining a clean driving record., • Participate in the client’s onboarding and security processes, including obtaining required badges and system access, and follow all site-specific protocols once cleared.Essential Skills, • High school diploma or equivalent., • 2–4 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems, such as in a facility manager or building engineer capacity., • Strong HVAC background, with at least 5 years of experience in HVAC and general maintenance as indicated., • Experience maintaining and repairing commercial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems., • Ability to analyze the operation of commercial or industrial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, determine the cause of problems or malfunctions, and take appropriate corrective action., • Demonstrated technical expertise in at least one craft area, such as electrical, HVAC, piping/plumbing, or central utility plant operations, with multi-skill capability in others., • EPA 608 Universal Certification (EPA Universal) required., • Working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel, for documentation and reporting., • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, enabling safe operation of a company vehicle between sites., • Ability to travel regularly within the Baton Rouge, west side of New Orleans, and east side of Lafayette areas., • Capability to comply with safety procedures, hazardous materials handling protocols, and workplace housekeeping standards.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working as a facility manager, building engineer, or in a similar role responsible for commercial building systems., • Familiarity with central utility plant operations and multi-building facility environments., • Comfort working with fire life safety systems and control systems within commercial facilities., • Ability to coordinate and oversee contracted maintenance services, including evaluating quality and pricing., • Strong attention to detail when recording equipment readings, maintaining logs, and completing maintenance documentation., • Good organizational skills for managing preventive maintenance schedules, inventory control, and multiple site responsibilities., • Effective communication skills for interacting with internal teams, site contacts, and external contractors., • No Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license is required for this role, making it suitable for experienced technicians without formal engineering licensure.Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a mobile field-based role covering commercial facilities in the Baton Rouge area, with regular travel to locations between the west side of New Orleans and the east side of Lafayette. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A company vehicle (such as a van) and necessary equipment are provided for travel and on-site work. You will work primarily in commercial building environments, including mechanical rooms, central utility plant areas, and occupied office or facility spaces. The role involves frequent use of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and control system tools and equipment, as well as computer applications like Word and Excel for reporting and documentation. You handle hazardous materials in accordance with safety policies and operate within a structured safety program that emphasizes good housekeeping and hazard recognition. The position requires completion of a client-specific onboarding process, including background checks, security badging, and system access setup before full site access is granted. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Baton Rouge, LA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $35.00/hr.
