Job Summary:This position leads a crew of arborists in daily operations including residential, commercial, and municipal property tree care maintenance, quality control, and safety. Essential Functions: • Daily preparation of trucks, equipment, and inventory., • Report on time to prepare and review the work schedule with the Tree Care team, • Direct staff in loading of all tools, fuel, and other necessary equipment/materials. Make sure all equipment is secured safely., • Check oil, fluids, tire pressure, proper trailer connection, and all lights are in working order., • Follow instruction from Sales Arborist to accurately perform and manage tree care tasks on clients property including all aspects of tree removal, pruning, cabling, treating, planting, etc., • Work in conjunction with the Sales Arborist to ensure that work contracted is implemented efficiently and according to contract specifics., • Participate in weekly scheduling meetings., • Provide labor associated with the maintenance of trees., • Perform all tasks of operations including but not limited to: climbing, pruning, inspecting, tree removal, etc., • Receive and deliver on site training including safety, equipment use, technique, etc., • Follow the proper use of safety equipment & personal protective equipment., • Address any questions or concerns with clients professionally. Communicate the clients questions & concerns to the Sales Arborist immediately., • Communicate any change in job scope or job schedule with Sales Arborist & Office Administrator., • Perform end of the day duties., • Accurately record and submit hours worked on employee time sheet. Complete all job site reports and inventory all materials used on the job., • Review and prepare for the next days job., • Unload/load equipment & material, clean out truck/trailer by removing trash, debris, etc., • Clean, maintain and repair all tools and equipment. Report any damaged or broken equipment to the Tree Care Supervisor., • Strictly adhere to Tree Trusts safety policies and procedures including the ANSI Z133 for Tree Care Operations, • Assist LS Snow, Construction and Lawn Maintenance departments as needed. Qualifications/Skills Required: • Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid driver license and a clean driving record as determined by our insurance carrier., • Must be able to pass a criminal background and motor vehicle check., • Must possess and maintain MN DOT medical certificate., • Possess or able to obtain ISA certification within 90 days of hire., • Possess or be able to obtain Class A CDL within 90 days of hire., • Possess or be able to acquire chemical applicator license with endorsements A, E and J within 90 days of hire., • 3-5+ years of experience operating power equipment including aerial lifts, chain saws, skid steers, woodchippers, and stump grinders., • Climbing experience using ropes and saddle, including working knowledge of knots, and climbing hardware, to perform tree care tasks., • Experience using cranes and/or ropes for controlled rigging and removal., • Must possess a strong work ethic and work well within a team., • Must be able to take work direction and work well under pressure within a fast paced, deadline driven environment., • Must be teachable, trainable and project a proactive attitude-always looking for the next way to find solutions., • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be an effective listener., • Must be reliable, possess a positive attitude and be able to work independently., • Must be willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions., • Must strictly adhere to Tree Trusts safety policies and procedures., • Must have ability to work effectively with individuals of differing backgrounds, knowledge, and skill levels, • Must have the ability to frequently climb, bend, stoop, twist and frequently lift 50 pounds. Preferred Qualifications: • Degree in forestry, horticulture, or related field, • 3-5+ years of climbing arborist experience Work Environment: Job will require constantly working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to elements. This can include heavy to moderate noise, extreme proximity to moving equipment or machinery, proximity to electrical energy, exposure to tools and machines used in tree care and landscaping industries. Physical demands: Physical demands require constantly moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Frequently ascends/descends trees using climbing rigging to perform work. Frequently operates machinery and will use hands/fingers and legs to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect and position materials. Frequently required to stand and walk, lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Constantly required to communicate with ability to talk and hear. Job Description ORGANIZATION SUMMARY: The Minneapolis Downtown Improvement District (the “DID”) is a 501 (c) 6 corporation (formed January 2009) that implements services and programs in a 120+ block area of Downtown Minneapolis (the “District”). The mission of the DID is to “Preserve and enhance a vital and attractive Downtown Minneapolis for the people who invest in, work, shop, visit and live here”. The DID’s administrative services (offices spaces, systems, staff, etc.) are provided to DID via a services agreement with the mpls downtown council (the “mdc”). This position will be an employee of the mdc serving to implement the DID. The mdc shares the same primary mission for Downtown Minneapolis. POSITION SUMMARY: This position will primarily assist with the planning, implementation, and oversight of maintenance, greening and other operational efforts within the 120 Block District boundaries. This position will work collaboratively with the public and private sector to provide services that improve the vitality and maintain the condition of Downtown Minneapolis. Position responsibilities often require long periods of time outdoors; walking, observing & maintaining various items within the District. This includes interacting with business owners and the general public. Core hours will follow general business hours but will at times flex to include evening and possibly weekend hours. Additionally, this position works with DID management team members to assist in planning and implementing DID services. It responds to the Director of Operations (DO) and committees of the Board and stakeholders in planning for and implementing services and initiatives. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Vendor Coordination -- Assist with the coordination and oversight of vendors providing operational services for the DID. Provide input and insight to help with the development of total program budgets and schedules. Assist in planning future year work plans. Collect, organize and file/distribute project documentation. Ensure timely implementation, quality control, and completion of all vendor and contract activities. Ensure that procedures are set up for project-related maintenance and service., 2. General Maintenance and Repair Work – Perform occasional, hands-on maintenance and repair work when a vendor is not involved or available. Any maintenance or repairs will be at the direction of the Director of Operations. Examples include: minor irrigation system repairs, touch-up painting, plant removal & replacement, HVAC filter replacement, etc. Position requires ability to lift moderately heavy objects, climb ladders and perform duties requiring normal strength., 3. Facilities Management – Light responsibility for management of the DID Operations office space. This includes tracking & ordering basic supplies, working with the Director of Operations to ensure space is operational, and communicating with the property landlord when directed., 4. Community and Public Relations – Ensure that the organization and its mission, programs, products and services consistently present a strong, positive image to stakeholders and the general public. This would include all DID services, e.g., safety, cleanliness and greenery, etc., 5. Support of Management -- Support operations and implementation of strategies and tactics as directed by Director of Operations. This includes working on new programs, assisting other team members, taking initiative when and where appropriate, and other tasks as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS 1. Minimum of Associates degree with relevant operational experience., 2. Experience with some aspect of real estate, landscaping, and/or asset or project management, is desirable., 3.
