Job Description This well-established law firm has been serving clients for over 100 years and is home to 45+ attorneys. While the firm has deep roots in oil, gas, and real estate law, it also offers a broad range of legal services, including: Administrative, appellate, banking and financial services, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, business planning and taxation, commercial litigation, employment and labor law, energy, environmental, estate planning, fiduciary litigation, insurance and personal injury, intellectual property, international business transactions, probate, trust and guardianship, real estate, and securities. However, they are seeking a Estate Planning Legal Secretary at this time. Position: Estate Planning Secretary Salary Range: $85,000 ? $95,000 Location: Downtown Houston Practice Area: Estate Planning About the Firm The firm is widely respectedin the legal community: * Attorneys are graduates of top-tier law schools and universities * 10+ attorneys have served as jurists on federal and state benches * Four firm members have served as President of the Houston Bar Association * This role supports a highly regarded Estate Planning practice and is considered a key position within the firm. Key Responsibilities * Draft and prepare estate planning documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives * Assist with the preparation and filing of probate documents and court filings * Maintain frequent communication with clients, financial institutions, and court personnel in a professional and courteous manner * Answer and route phone calls for attorneys * Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, and key milestones related to court filings, trust funding, and estate matters * Coordinate signing meetings, notary services, and document execution * Review and analyze financial documents, beneficiary designations, and asset information * Maintain and organize physical and electronic client files in accordance with firm procedures * Assist attorneys with research, correspondence, and preparation of IRS and state tax forms related to estates and trusts (e.g., Forms 706 and 709) * Provide general administrative and legal support as needed Qualifications * Minimum 8 years of experience as a legal secretary, with at least 4 years in estate planning strongly preferred * Strong working knowledge of estate planning documents, probate processes, and trust administration * Familiarity with court, state, and county filing systems and probate procedures * Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) * Experience with document management systems such as iManage and legal billing software * Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently * High level of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive client information Preferred Experience (NotRequired) * Experience with legal software such as Westlaw, GEMS, Interactive Legal Suite, and FlexDraft HOUDT42 #ZR Company DescriptionAbout Burnett Specialists Burnett Specialists is a top-ranked, 100% employee-owned recruiting firm with over 50 years of expertise in connecting top talent with exceptional companies.
