WHAT YOU’LL DO As part of the Digital Technology and Innovation team, the Senior Product Manager owns the definition, evolution, and success of assigned digital products and platforms. This role operates at the intersection of product strategy, technical decision making, and delivery execution, with clear accountability for product outcomes and alignment to SageNet’s broader technology vision. This individual will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer with “dotted line” responsibilities to the Director, Project Management and Business Analysis. This role blends strategic product ownership with practical delivery involvement to ensure product decisions translate into real world outcomes. You will work in environments where problems are not fully defined, solutions require tradeoff decisions, and execution must be balanced against delivery realities. While adherence to company governance and delivery standards is a necessity, your success in this role is driven by independent thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to guide teams toward outcomes that serve customers, the business, and long-term platform health. You may be customer-facing in support of product discovery, ideation, and lifecycle activities, while also partnering internally with the Project Management Office (PMO), as well as software and technology delivery teams to ensure approved work is planned, governed and executed effectively. This role requires comfort operating with autonomy, engaging deeply with technical teams, and navigating ambiguity without relying solely on prescriptive process. Major Duties and Responsibilities: This position is intentionally designed as a hybrid Product Manager and Project Manager role. The role holds ownership accountability for defined digital products while also supporting delivery execution in partnership with the PMO. This hybrid structure applies because the role both defines product direction and actively manages delivery outcomes, consistent with the DTI Role Definition Framework for hybrid roles. Product Manager Responsibilities (60%) • Serve as the Product Manager for current assigned products, including Shelf Edge, with accountability for product vision, roadmap, lifecycle decisions, and ongoing evolution., • Own product-level decision making for assigned initiatives, including defining problem statements, establishing success criteria, prioritizing capabilities, and making informed tradeoffs across scope, timeline, and technical approach., • Serve as an advocate for the customer and end user, ensuring feedback, usability insights, and real-world usage inform product direction, technical decisions, and delivery priorities., • Lead product ideation, definition, and lifecycle activities by collaborating with business stakeholders, customers, and internal teams to identify problems, opportunities, and desired outcomes., • Translate product strategy and customer insights into clear, actionable requirements, including epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria that communicate both intent and expected outcomes to delivery teams., • Engage deeply with engineering and architecture teams to evaluate solution options, surface technical constraints, and influence architectural decisions in support of scalability, reliability, security, and long-term platform sustainability., • Bring hands on experience working with embedded and edge computing platforms, including Raspberry Pi class devices, and an understanding of how hardware, cabling, power, displays, and networking come together in real world environments. Apply this perspective to inform product design decisions, reliability considerations, and long-term support models, while partnering closely with engineering and delivery teams to pressure test ideas and resolve issues., • Collaborate with internal teams and external technology partners to evaluate solutions, integrations, and capabilities that support SageNet’s broader product and service portfolio., • Measure success through customer adoption, business impact, technical sustainability, and delivery effectiveness, not solely through adherence to plans or schedules., • Engage directly with customers to support product discovery, validation, and feedback gathering activities., • Participate in customer discussions as needed to explain product direction, roadmap considerations, and delivery tradeoffs., • Partner with customer facing teams to understand implementation realities, adoption challenges, and enhancement opportunities., • Partner with delivery teams to plan and execute approved work, including backlog creation and refinement, sequencing, dependency management, and forecasting, while maintaining accountability for delivery outcomes., • Apply Agile and iterative delivery practices to support effective planning and execution, including participating in backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives as appropriate., • Partner with the PMO to align business initiatives with established intake, governance, and delivery standards, ensuring transparency, consistency, and organizational alignment while retaining accountability for product success., • Proactively identify and manage risks, assumptions, dependencies, and constraints, facilitating timely conversations and decisions when product or delivery outcomes are at risk., • Provide clear, outcome-oriented visibility into product and delivery health, including progress, risks, dependencies, and expected impact, using company-standard reporting mechanisms., • Act as a central point of coordination across business, technology, and delivery teams to ensure alignment, clarity, and momentum throughout the product lifecycle. To perform this role successfully, the Senior Product Manager must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements below represent the knowledge, skills, education, and experience required for the role. Experience & Education • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, or a related field., • 7+ years of experience across product management, project management, or hybrid product delivery roles in technology-driven environments., • Demonstrated experience operating in ambiguous environments where product strategy, technical considerations, and delivery execution overlap., • Experience owning or leading product lifecycle activities in organizations without fully mature or prescriptive product structures., • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and Agile or iterative delivery practices., • Demonstrated ability to make prioritization and tradeoff decisions informed by customer needs, technical constraints, and business objectives., • Experience working closely with engineering and architecture teams to evaluate solution approaches and influence technical direction., • Proven project delivery experience, including planning, forecasting, dependency management, risk management, and delivery reporting., • Experience working with matrixed teams, shared delivery resources, and external vendors., • Proven ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including customers and senior leaders., • Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms to manage requirements, delivery, and communication., • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives., • Ability to align to organizational governance and delivery standards while maintaining a product-oriented mindset and accountability., • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and use it to inform product and delivery decisions., • Adaptable, pragmatic, and comfortable balancing strategic intent with execution reality. Regular in person collaboration with cross functional teams is expected, with the office serving as the primary hub for collaboration, planning, and key meetings.
