Role Snapshot As the Supplier Quality Systems Supervisor, you’ll architect and run the supplier quality program that keeps our incoming materials aligned to AMACO and Brent standards. You’ll lead incoming inspection, build strong supplier partnerships, and collaborate with production, procurement, and engineering to solve problems fast and prevent recurrence. A Day in the Role • Start your day reviewing overnight incoming inspection results and supplier scorecards; trigger rapid response for any critical-to-quality (CTQ) misses., • Walk the line with production to triage supplier-related issues, coordinating with engineering on root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D, A3)., • Coach your team on proper inspection methods, SPC, and test procedures; verify standards are clear, measurable, and repeatable., • Meet with procurement to align on supplier selection, qualification (including PPAP where appropriate), and development plans., • Host supplier Kaizen reviews and audit follow-ups to drive sustainable performance improvements. Supervisory Responsibilities, • Lead and develop the supplier quality team, setting goals, schedules, and conducting performance feedback., • Be a hands-on mentor, training staff in quality fundamentals and ceramic-specific testing. What You’ll Own, • Design and deployment of supplier quality systems: qualification, auditing, monitoring, scorecards, and quality agreements., • Definition and continuous improvement of incoming inspection methods; ensuring CTQ specs are met and test methods are taught correctly to staff and suppliers., • Primary contact for supplier discrepancies; lead investigations, root cause work, corrective actions, and escalation to In-Process Quality as needed., • Implementation of AMACO and Brent Quality System standards with suppliers; lead supplier-focused Kaizen/A3 and corrective action systems. How Success Is Measured (KPIs), • Fewer supplier-caused defects and incoming inspection failures., • Reduced production downtime tied to supplier quality issues., • Improved supplier scorecards across defect rates, delivery, and compliance., • On-time, effective supplier corrective actions. Core Competencies, • Deep familiarity with testing methods, audits, and supplier quality frameworks., • Hands-on use of CTQ, PPAP, FMEA, and 8D problem solving., • Collaborative leadership with persuasive supplier engagement and negotiation skills., • Ability to optimize quality, cost, and delivery simultaneously., • Strong planning, organization, and communication to drive results. Qualifications, • Bachelor’s degree in Ceramics, Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Technology, or related; an associate’s degree plus significant experience will be considered., • 5–7+ years in supplier quality or quality engineering within manufacturing., • Proven track record building or maturing a Supplier Quality System., • ISO 9001 proficiency; exposure to IATF 16949, AS9100, or ISO 13485 is advantageous., • SPC/statistical skill set (Minitab preferred)., • Experience creating, documenting, and standardizing quality standards, including converting attribute criteria into numeric measures., • Preferred certifications: ASQ CSQP, CQE, CQA, or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Travel Up to 30% travel.
