Position Summary The Director of Development leads a comprehensive healthcare philanthropy strategy that fuels the mission and sustainability of Advance Community Health. This position builds and manages a strong and diverse development portfolio that prioritizes corporate and foundation support and includes individual giving, major gifts, annual giving, and special events. The role works in partnership with the Chief Economic Development and External Engagement Officer, the Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Trustees, staff, and volunteers to inspire philanthropic investment and long lasting donor relationships. The primary focus of this position is to design and implement a clear philanthropy strategy that drives revenue growth and aligns with the mission, purpose, values, and strategic priorities of Advance Community Health. This includes providing guidance, and leadership while leveraging data to inform direction to executive leadership on all areas of development. The Director of Development works closely with the Government Relations Director, the Grants Manager, cross-departmental leadership, and community partners to identify strategic partnerships and development opportunities. This position is responsible for cultivating and stewarding relationships with corporate and foundation partners to advance annual and long term philanthropic goals. This includes designing engagement plans, supporting donor moves management, and managing donor and prospect portfolios for development staff, Board members, and the Chief Executive Officer. The Director of Development also plays a key role in strengthening a culture of philanthropy throughout Advance Community Health by equipping Board members, staff, and volunteers to engage confidently in storytelling, and relationship building and stewardship. Our Benefits • Company paid Medical for Employee and two dependents., • Dental, and Vision insurance, • 401K participation, • All employees receive their Birthday Off, • One Floating Holiday, • Student loan forgiveness is available through the NHS Loan Forgiveness program., • Develop and implement a comprehensive philanthropic strategy that advances annual, major gift, corporate, foundation, and fund development goals., • Build and steward relationships with corporate and foundation partners, community leaders, and other key stakeholders to grow philanthropic support., • Identify and design outreach material content for each project., • Steward marketing materials with the Marketing department and vendors to create and fulfill donor engagement, brand consistency, and project messaging., • Use technology-based engagement tools such as email platforms, digital stewardship tools, and virtual meeting applications., • Oversee CRM system including portfolio management and training staff in CRM use, • Lead donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities, ensuring timely follow up, meaningful engagement, and excellent donor experiences, • Oversee planning, management, and implementation of development, cultivation, and stewardship events to strengthen donor relationships and increase revenue., • Partner with executive leadership and Board members to drive donor identification and outreach, cultivation activities, and philanthropic engagement., • Ensure accurate and timely use of the donor database and engagement platforms, including data entry, portfolio management, and analysis of fund development performance. This position requires strong team leadership, management, and mobilization skills. The Director of Development supervises and supports staff, and/or volunteers involved in development, donor engagement, events, and strategic outreach. Core supervisory responsibilities include setting clear expectations, providing coaching and professional development, and ensuring the team has the tools and guidance needed to deliver excellent donor experiences and achieve development goals. The role also leads cross functional coordination to involve clinical leaders and executives in outreach, cultivation, and stewardship activities. Required Qualifications • Bachelor degree in a related field such as nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or equivalent work experience., • Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate, foundation, and University development and fund raising., • Fund development experience in a healthcare or safety-net care setting/, • Empowering Board members in donor engagement and philanthropic outreach/, • Membership or active involvement in the Association of Fundraising Professionals or similar professional association/, • Strong relationship building, communication, and storytelling skills with the ability to engage individuals, corporations, foundations, community partners, and Board members in philanthropy., • Proven ability to design and lead fund development strategies including major gifts, annual giving, corporate sponsorships, planned giving., • Ability to work closely with executive leadership and Board members to drive campaign progress, track milestones, and maintain donor momentum., • Skilled in donor cultivation, stewardship, and portfolio management, using data informed approaches to track progress, analyze trends, and guide decision making., • Ability to collaborate across departments and with executive leadership, staff, volunteers, and Board members to support a culture of philanthropy., • Strong leadership and people development skills including supervising staff or volunteers, coaching, professional development, and goal achievement., • Proficient in the use of technology including Microsoft Office Suite and donor databases or CRM platforms, with the ability to integrate engagement technologies and use data to inform strategy., • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt in a dynamic environment., • Knowledge of philanthropic trends, giving vehicles, nonprofit fundraising regulations, and charitable giving tax considerations.
