We offer competitive wages and solid career opportunities. Are you looking to join a great team as our Safety Specialist? Position Overview: The Safety Specialist is a full-time, exempt position. This position is responsible for training employees and monitoring field safety to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees. The Safety Specialist should also be able to assist the Safety Director in identifying opportunities to minimize workplace health hazards quickly and efficiently. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Conducts safety training., • Performs safety inspections and audits to identify possible safety issues and assess employee compliance with safety regulations., • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems., • Stops operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment., • Transports injured employees to get medical attention., • Assists in logging training records., • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules., • Provides support to the safety committee., • Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates., • Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications for Safety Specialist • Preferred Spanish and English fluency, writing and speaking., • Ability to conduct training in both English and Spanish preferred., • Extensive knowledge of OSHA construction regulations, hazard identification and corrections, environmental regulations, workers compensation, and human behavior., • Ability to deal calmly and effectively in high-stress situations., • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail., • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications., • Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills., • Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing with employees at all levels. Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and abilities listed qualifies. • Five (5) years of construction safety knowledge with a focus on land development and utility installation., • Bachelors degree in Occupational Health, Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field is preferred. Certifications: • OSHA 30-hour Construction certification required., • OSHA 510 or 511 certification is preferred or can be obtained in first year. Physical Requirements: • Physically able to work seated in front of a computer for long hours at a time., • Physically able to walk job sites and work in the elements during work hours., • Ability to travel to and from various jobsite locations as required to conduct safety inspections, audits, and investigations., • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Work Hours: The normal work hours for this position are Monday Friday, 7:00am 5:30pm. Job sites are located within a 100 mile radius of the greater Charlotte metro area.
