Job Description Do you have a passion for creating baked goods and breads by hand from scratch? Scratch Bakery Cafe is currently interviewing for a part-time Pastry Cook. This position requires basic understanding of commercial baking methods and some minimal commercial baking experience is required. We pride ourselves on the freshly prepared items we serve from our bakery and are looking for experienced and passionate people to help support our team. We are seeking people who have a great attitude, enjoy working in a busy bakery environment are willing to grow with the company, and work well with others. PASTRY COOK Essential Duties & Responsibilities This position will be primarily be responsible for production of one or our biggest selling product lines. Assisting other pastry cooks during slower periods with other products. Prepare all food and baked items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner Understand and complete daily prep list assigned by the pastry chef Ensure all ingredients are in stock and communicate ordering needs Assist higher level pastry cooks Assist with cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers/freezers, and storage areas Watch for and identify spoilage in product Perform additional duties as assigned that may be outside of the normal scope of work based on business needs SKILLS & ABILITIES Good basic knowledge of cakes, tarts, fillings, icings and dessert assembly Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to collaborate in a team environment with excellent communication skills Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
