Job Description The Purchasing Manager at AKN Interiors is a critical operational role responsible for maintaining organization, accuracy, and flow across the company’s purchasing, administrative systems, and internal communication. This position serves as a central support hub for leadership, project managers, designers, and field teams—ensuring that projects move forward efficiently and without costly delays. A major responsibility of this role is the purchasing, tracking, and coordination of all project selections and finish materials, including verifying quantities, lead times, pricing, and delivery schedules. The Purchasing Manager ensures that all selected materials are ordered correctly, documented properly, and aligned with approved scopes, budgets, and timelines. This role requires someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced design-build remodeling environment. The Purchasing Manager plays a key role in protecting margins, reducing errors, and creating a smooth experience for both clients and internal teams. We offer top pay for the right individual. This is a hybrid position, where some days will be in our office in Bethel Park, while others can be done from home. Compensation: $26 - $32 hourly Responsibilities: • Purchase All Project Selections & Finish Materials, • Order all approved finish materials (cabinetry, tile, plumbing fixtures, lighting, flooring, hardware, appliances, etc.) in accordance with signed selections, scopes, and budgets., • Track Material Status From Order to Install, • Maintain accurate tracking of all materials, including order dates, lead times, delivery dates, backorders, and jobsite arrival to prevent delays and downtime., • Verify Pricing, Quantities, and Specifications, • Confirm quantities, SKUs, colors, finishes, and pricing prior to ordering to eliminate costly mistakes and reorders., • Coordinate With Designers, PMs, and Field Teams, • Act as the central point of coordination between design, project management, vendors, and field staff regarding material readiness and sequencing., • Manage Vendor Communication & Relationships, • Communicate directly with suppliers and showrooms to place orders, resolve issues, track lead times, and negotiate favorable terms when possible., • Document Purchases in JobTread / Project Systems, • Accurately log all purchases, invoices, confirmations, and delivery details into JobTread (or approved systems) to maintain clean, up-to-date project records., • Confirm Materials Are On-Site When Needed, • Ensure materials are delivered, staged, and available in advance of installation dates to support smooth project flow., • Monitor Budget Alignment & Protect Margins, • Flag pricing discrepancies, overages, or scope conflicts before ordering and escalate issues to leadership or PMs as needed., • Handle Material Issues, Returns, and Replacements, • Proactively resolve damaged, incorrect, or missing materials, including coordinating returns, exchanges, and warranty claims., • Manage All Incoming Calls & Front-Office Communication, • Answer and route all incoming phone calls in a professional manner, provide accurate information to callers, and ensure messages and leads are properly documented and directed to the appropriate team members.Qualifications:, • 2+ Years of Purchasing, Operations, or Administrative Experience, • Experience in purchasing, office management, operations, or a similar role requiring high organization and accountability., • Construction or Design-Build Industry Experience (Preferred), • Prior experience in remodeling, construction, or a design-build environment is strongly preferred but not required., • Strong Organizational & Time-Management Skills, • Ability to manage multiple projects, orders, and priorities simultaneously without missing details or deadlines., • High Attention to Detail & Accuracy, • Proven ability to verify specifications, quantities, pricing, and documentation with minimal errors., • Excellent Communication Skills (Written & Verbal), • Professional, confident communication with clients, vendors, designers, project managers, and field teams., • Comfortable Managing Incoming Calls & Front-Office Communication, • Ability to professionally answer, screen, and route incoming calls while maintaining focus on purchasing responsibilities., • Proficiency With Technology & Software Systems, • Comfortable using Google Workspace and willing to learn JobTread, CRM systems, and accounting or purchasing software., • Problem-Solving & Proactive Mindset, • Ability to identify issues early, think critically, and take initiative to resolve material, scheduling, or communication challenges., • Trustworthy & Professional With Confidential Information, • Demonstrates integrity, discretion, and professionalism when handling company, client, and financial information.About Company AKN Interiors is a South Hills–based, design-build remodeling company serving the greater Pittsburgh area, specializing in kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, and whole-home renovations.
