Job DescriptionJob Title: Iron Worker Job Description This role supports structural steel projects nationwide by erecting, connecting, and installing structural steel and metal components on active job sites. You will perform welding, cutting, rigging, and field fabrication while working at heights and following strict safety standards. You will read and interpret blueprints and specifications and collaborate closely with crew members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule. Responsibilities • Erect, connect, and install structural steel and metal components in accordance with project plans and specifications., • Perform welding, including MIG welding, and cutting operations to fabricate and install steel members and assemblies., • Carry out rigging activities to safely move, lift, and position structural steel using appropriate rigging techniques and equipment., • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout, dimensions, and installation requirements., • Execute field fabrication tasks, including measuring, cutting, framing, and installing steel components as needed on site., • Work at heights on structural steel frameworks while maintaining strict adherence to all safety procedures and fall protection requirements., • Collaborate with crew members and supervisors to coordinate tasks, sequence work, and meet project deadlines., • Inspect tools, equipment, and materials to ensure they are in safe working condition and suitable for the assigned tasks., • Follow OSHA and site-specific safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe work practices., • Travel to various job sites, including out-of-town assignments, and work extended hours as required by project schedules.Essential Skills, • Journeyman-level ironworker experience with proven field performance on structural steel projects., • Strong knowledge of structural steel erection methods, including connecting, bolting, and aligning steel components., • Proficiency in rigging practices, including selecting and using rigging gear to safely move and position structural members., • Hands-on experience with welding, including MIG welding, in a construction or structural steel environment., • Ability to perform fabrication tasks such as measuring, cutting, framing, and installing steel components on site., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications for structural steel work., • Comfort and competence working at heights on structural steel frameworks while maintaining strict safety practices., • Ability to travel frequently to job sites and work extended hours, including early morning starts and weekend work., • Current OSHA 10 certification., • Strong focus on safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork on active construction sites.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 welding certifications are a plus., • Experience with structural steel erection on large facilities such as data centers is beneficial., • Background in construction rigging, framing, and installation on active job sites., • Ability to adapt to different project locations and site conditions while maintaining productivity., • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with crew members and site leadership.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based on active construction sites at customer locations, with a strong focus on data center projects and other large-scale facilities. You will work primarily outdoors and at heights on structural steel frameworks, often in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment. Typical hours run from approximately 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with some Sunday work as project needs require. The environment is fast-paced and safety-driven, with strict adherence to OSHA standards and site-specific safety protocols. Work involves extensive use of welding equipment, rigging gear, lifts, and standard ironworking tools, and requires appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment suitable for a construction and industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburgh, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
