Job Description The Packaging Engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of advanced packaging solutions that meet the needs of our client’s diverse product lines. This role requires a deep understanding of packaging materials, processes, equipment, and technologies, as well as a commitment to sustainability and cost-effectiveness. The Packaging Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, and manufacturing, to ensure that all packaging solutions are innovative, functional, and aligned with the company's strategic goals. Duties/Responsibilities: • Create complex calculations to determine size and quantity of packaging equipment required based on project production goals., • Develop process flow diagrams, P&ID’s, and equipment layouts to meet customer specifications, throughput rates and sales goals; ensure designs and layouts conform to specifications, code requirements, and food safety requirements., • Responsible for creating or obtaining Packaging Specifications; Materials, Rates, Sizes, OEE, Compliance., • Develop specifications for packaging equipment and installation., • Assist in estimating equipment costs (design and material) for specified process, seek alternative methods that may reduce cost, review activities to ensure design stays within budget., • Coordinates with 3rd party engineering, architectural, OEM, and client resources., • Troubleshoot new and existing packaging line issues involving equipment, controls, designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions., • Provide on-site project support to assist in accurate packaging equipment installation, startup and commissioning., • Commit to sustainability and cost-effectiveness in all packaging solutions., • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, internal and external, including project management, engineering, design, product development, marketing, and manufacturing., • Ensure all packaging solutions are innovative, functional, and aligned with company strategic goals, • Other duties as assignedRequired Skills/Abilities:, • Knowledge of packaging materials, processes, and technologies., • Proficiency in CAD software and/or other design tools, 3D software a plus., • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills., • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, including interpersonal skills., • Innovative thinking and the ability to develop creative solutions., • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills., • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines., • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards., • Flexibility to work in different environments and adapt to changing project requirements.Education/Experience:, • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field., • Experience with capital projects, either cost reduction initiatives or new line installation., • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in packaging engineering or a related field., • Experience in AutoCAD 2D or a 3D design software is preferred., • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards.Travel Requirements:, • Ability to travel regularly for site visits, attend project meetings, corporate training, and events., • Ability to travel internationally, obtain and maintain a valid passport., • Travel expected to be at least 25%., • Flexibility to travel on short notice for urgent business needs., • Comfortable with various modes of transportation, including flights, trains, and rental cars., • Ability to navigate and work effectively in diverse geographical locations and time zones., • Ability to adapt to different cultures and customs while traveling., • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance during business trips., • Compliance with company travel policies and procedures.Physical Requirements:, • Ability to use a computer, phone, iPad, printer, scanner, and other office equipment., • Visual acuity for detailed work and computer use., • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds of files, documents, and materials, • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time, ability to climb flights of stairs and ladders., • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as necessary., • Manual dexterity for operating office equipment, measuring devices, quality & testing devices., • Ability to work around machinery during installation, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting., • Capability to handle occasional exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and extreme odors.
