Job Description About the job A leading technology services company focused on providing operationally focused solutions for select clientele within the United States Government (USG). The company was founded by a team of technologists to focus exclusively on advancing USG interests against the Nation's pacing threats in an age of Strategic (Great Power) Competition. We have built an elite, collaborative workforce dedicated to countering those threats in an environment designed for success. We offer exciting, important work, a team-oriented culture and growth opportunities. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Network Operations Center (NOC) Manager to manage daily NOC activities, define operational standards, and ensure efficient monitoring and incident response processes. This role focuses on operational excellence, process ownership, and team leadership. The ideal candidate is a hands-on Linux Systems Administrator with experience managing and scaling scalable monitoring and observability platforms. Key Responsibilities NOC Operations Management Lead day-to-day NOC operations across Linux-based production environments (RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian), ensuring systems remain stable, performant, and aligned with SLAs and SLOs. Take ownership of incident response processes for computer, network, storage, and container platforms, continuously improving workflows and driving clear, efficient escalations aligned with SRE and DevOps best practices. Mentor and train NOC analysts and junior engineers, building their skills in Linux troubleshooting, production diagnostics, CLI tools, networking, and monitoring platforms while supporting onboarding and hands-on development. Oversee monitoring across open-source observability stacks including Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, ELK/OpenSearch, Nagios/Icinga, and Zabbix to ensure proactive system oversight. Foster a culture of operational excellence, accountability, thorough documentation, shared incident ownership, and ongoing team and process improvement. Process & SOP Development Develop and maintain practical, detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that empower the team to act confidently and consistently. Create and refine Linux-focused runbooks covering systems, journals, networking, disk I/O, and CPU/memory diagnostics. Define alert triage workflows based on severity, impact, and root cause, and standardize escalation paths across Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, and Security teams to improve response efficiency. Continuous Improvement Analyze incidents through metrics, logs, and traces to identify systemic issues and prevent recurrence. Improve monitoring effectiveness by tuning thresholds, reducing alert noise, and ensuring alerts are actionable. Enhance signal-to-noise ratio through correlation, deduplication, and improved instrumentation. Collaborate closely with Infrastructure and Platform Engineering to strengthen telemetry collection and overall system observability. Contribute to post-incident reviews, driving meaningful improvements in root cause analysis (RCA) and operational resilience. Required Qualifications 3-5+ years of experience in NOC, IT Operations, or Linux Systems Operations with hands-on production support of Linux servers. Proven ability to lead or supervise technical operations teams while fostering collaboration and professional growth. Strong working knowledge of incident management frameworks such as ITIL, SRE, or similar. Experienced with monitoring and observability tools, and comfortable troubleshooting Linux systems using CLI tools like top, htop, vmstat, iostat, netstat/ss, and tcpdump. Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, load balancing, and firewalls. Operationally disciplined with a systems-thinking mindset, process-driven yet pragmatic, and values documentation and repeatability. Confident leading initiatives and driving improvements without needing to architect the entire monitoring stack. Comfortable in Linux-first environments and able to translate technical issues into clear operational impact. Deeply focused on reliability, uptime, and continuous operational improvement.
