Theyre cooperating to bring lacrosse outreach to traditionally under-served areas of the state. By introducing the game at the elementary and middle school levels, the two orgs believe they can get more kids playing through their high school years - especially with lacrosses coming out party at the 2028 Olympics. Position Description - Try Lax Coach As a Coach Across America AmeriCorps member, you will coach teams and/or lead programs for elementary to high school age youth. The coaching position being sponsored will run into October of 2026. The total time commitment is 450 hours for those 10 months or about 10 hours/week. The coach will provide beginners lacrosse instruction in traditionally under-served areas on Portlands deeper eastside of Parkrose/McDaniel. The coach will work with schools, youth support organizations (e.g., SUN), and existing lacrosse clubs to offer opportunities for new players to try lacrosse. The coach will also cooperate with their supporting team to develop the curriculum and schedule the engagements with partnering organizations. Job Description Summary The Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.
