We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager - M&A to join our Marketing team, based in A&O Shearman’s London Office. Marketing team – London Our Marketing team helps the firm win and grow the right clients and work. We drive client development across the firm - deepening priority relationships, increasing share of wallet and converting strategic opportunities into profitable revenue. We equip partners with effective go-to-market strategies, tactics and processes, differentiated insights and disciplined execution. What you will do You will provide strategic and day-to-day business development support across a varied portfolio spanning FIG, insurance and Energy & Infrastructure M&A as well as Sports sector coverage. The role combines opportunity-led support, including pitches, credentials and client targeting, with longer-term responsibility for market profile, campaigns, events, directories and priority client relationships. This role will be supported by our corporate Core Pitch Team and Marketing Solutions Team, based in Belfast. You will coordinate with these central teams and leverage their ability to assist with junior tasks and pitches to enhance your ability to act strategically. You will also coordinate relationship activity for selected priority clients, working across practices, offices and central teams to provide joined-up support and maintain momentum against agreed actions. Strategic planning and execution • Translate business plans into focused BD activity across relevant practices, sectors and clients., • Develop and maintain BD plans with partners and wider teams., • Manage budgets and track spend and ROI., • Support planning discussions, maintaining clear priorities and actions., • Use CRM, pipeline and market insights to inform BD activity and reporting. Pursuit excellence • Coordinate proposals, capability statements and credentials across priority practices, sectors and clients., • Work with BD, pricing and legal teams to deliver compelling, client-focused submissions., • Tailor credentials and materials to individual opportunities., • Maintain accurate pipeline data and support pitch processes and debriefs., • Develop reusable content to improve pitch quality and efficiency. Market profile, content and campaigns • Deliver profile-raising activity and campaigns aligned to agreed strategy., • Manage directories, awards submissions and relevant content., • Coordinate events, memberships, sponsorships and hospitality opportunities., • Maintain high-quality website, marketing and client-facing content., • Ensure consistent, evidence-based external messaging. You will support day-to-day business development for the IP Litigation practice in London by converting strategy into tactical plans that you deliver in an efficient, disciplined and collaborative way. You will provide both reactive and proactive support to lawyers and the business to help pursue growth opportunities. The role will involve the full spectrum of marketing and BD activities for the group, including support on pitches, events, directories, campaigns and thought leadership, and other profile-raising activities both internally and externally, ensuring that best practice is followed in terms of systems, technology and processes. The Senior Electrical Project Manager takes the electrical works from pre-construction and design right through to commissioning, energisation and handover. • Lead delivery and the electrical team, including Electrical Project Managers and specialist contractors, • Make day-to-day decisions on resources, sequencing, routine spend and corrective action, • Lead design coordination, constructability reviews and multidisciplinary interfaces, • Own electrical safety, covering isolations, switching, energisation and RAMS review, • Plan for long-lead equipment and shape the procurement and commissioning strategies, • Drive QA, testing, commissioning and complete handover records, • Work with the commercial team on change, variations and subcontractor performance, • Report to senior project and client stakeholders, and develop your team, • Significant electrical or MEP delivery experience in data centres, defence, energy or critical infrastructure, • Proven delivery of complex electrical systems from design to handover, • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, plus commercial and contractual awareness, • HNC or HND in Electrical or Building Services Engineering, or equivalent, • 18th Edition, SMSTS and First Aid at Work, • HV Authorised Person training or equivalent competence, • ECS Black Manager Card, or able to get one within an agreed period, • IET or CIBSE membership, or working towards it, • Desirable: HV and energisation experience, critical power systems, NEC and JCT contracts, IEng or CEng status, and a project management qualification #J-18808-Ljbffr

Our Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice is looking for Project Managers to support the delivery of capital investment programmes for major UK water companies, including opportunities across South East Water and Anglian Water programmes. You will work within integrated client and multidisciplinary teams to manage projects across the full delivery lifecycle, from feasibility and design through construction, commissioning and handover. Projects may include water and wastewater treatment, networks, pipelines, pumping stations, storage, resilience and environmental improvement schemes. You will coordinate scope, programme, cost, risk, quality and stakeholders, helping our clients deliver safe, sustainable and measurable outcomes for customers, communities and the environment. • Lead the delivery of water infrastructure projects or defined work packages from initiation through design, construction, commissioning and handover., • Establish clear project objectives, scope, delivery strategy and success measures with the client and Project Director., • Manage programme, cost, risk, opportunity, change, quality and project interfaces., • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, environmental, commercial, planning, digital and construction specialists., • Administer NEC3 or NEC4 contracts, including early warnings, compensation events, programme acceptance and contractual communications., • Maintain effective governance, reporting and assurance in line with client and AtkinsRealis requirements., • Monitor performance against programme, budget, quality, regulatory commitments and agreed KPIs., • Build productive relationships with water company clients, delivery partners, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders., • Plan work around operational assets, access constraints, outages, commissioning and handover requirements., • Promote health, safety, environmental protection and wellbeing throughout project delivery., • Identify delivery risks early and lead proportionate mitigation and recovery actions., • Support continuous improvement, lessons learned and the effective use of digital tools and data., • Coach and support junior members of the project team., • Regular travel to client offices and operational sites across the South East and East of England will be required., • Some South East Water assignments may require attendance at the client office in Snodland for two to three days each week. About you • Relevant years of project delivery experience, including experience in the UK water sector., • Experience managing projects or substantial work packages within water infrastructure, utilities, engineering or construction., • Practical experience of NEC3 or NEC4 contracts, including early warnings, compensation events, change control and programme requirements., • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and delivering against time, cost, quality and safety objectives., • A practical understanding of project controls, including programme, cost, forecasting, risk, change and performance reporting., • Experience building effective relationships with clients, contractors and delivery partners., • Commercial awareness and the confidence to identify, manage and escalation delivery or contractual risks., • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to present project information to different audiences., • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to take ownership in a client-facing environment., • An appropriate project management, engineering, construction or related qualification, or equivalent experience., • A valid UK driving licence and the ability to travel to client offices and operational sites when required., • Formal NEC3 or NEC4 accreditation., • Experience delivering projects for South East Water, Anglian Water or another regulated UK water company., • Knowledge of AMP programmes and the regulatory water environment., • Experience of water or wastewater treatment, networks, pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs or other operational assets., • Experience of commissioning, operational readiness and project handover., • Experience using common data environments, project controls systems or digital reporting tools., • Membership of APM, ICE, CIWEM, RICS or another relevant professional body., • A recognised project management qualification or progress toward professional accreditation.
