The Role AS a Senior Estimator within our Multi-Utilities department, you will play a critical role in the successful execution of multi-utility infrastructure projects including water, gas, electricity and telecoms. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and produce accurate cost estimates for a variety of projects, ensuring that bids are competitive while maintaining profitability and compliance with the project’s scope and regulations. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, suppliers and subcontractors to develop detailed estimates, tender submissions and cost plans. Responsibilities • Evaluate project scope, risk and pricing strategy across all work types, ensuring compliance with required SLAs, • Produce accurate, comprehensive and timely estimates, tenders and submission documents, • Build estimates from first principles using RIB CCS Candy iTWO, maintaining accuracy in line with company master libraries, • Manage multiple estimates and tenders simultaneously, delivering to agreed timelines, • Prepare draft designs, proposals and full commercial submissions for utility works, • Create and maintain accurate quantities from drawings and plans, ensuring robust project launches, • Produce draft design sketches (PDF Xchange Editor) for design-and-build projects where no design exists, • Prepare commercial documentation for peer review and approval by the Head of Business winning and Directors, • Lead estimating handover meetings and prepare clear handover documentation for project delivery teams Personal Qualities • Accuracy & attention to detail, • Commercial mindset, • Ownership & accountability, • Strong organisational skills, • Analytical & problem-solving ability, • Communication & influencing skills, • Collaboration & teamwork Technical Skills & Experience • Extensive experience in a similar Estimator/Senior Estimator role within multi-utilities, • Demonstrable experience producing accurate, first principles estimates, • Experience creating and maintaining accurate quantities for tender and project launch, • Experience managing design-and-build estimates Qualifications & Training • HNC / HND in Civil Engineering, Construction or Quantity Surveying or, • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or related discipline or, • Equivalent industry qualification or demonstrable experience in a professional estimating role, • Membership or working towards membership of a recognised professional body (desirable) Additional Information Doocey Group value a diverse workforce and welcome applications form all sections of the community, regardless of any protected characteristics.
