An established food manufacturing site in the Coventry area is seeking an experienced Hygiene Team Leader to support site hygiene operations and ensure the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and compliance across the factory. This is a hands-on leadership role, working closely with the Hygiene Manager and wider site teams to deliver effective cleaning, sanitation, and audit readiness across all production and environmental areas. Key Responsibilities • Lead and support the hygiene team on shift, ensuring all cleaning activities are completed to a high standard, • Oversee cleaning across production, packing, warehouse, high-care, welfare, yard, and external areas, • Ensure full compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety, COSHH, GMP, and site procedures, • Conduct daily hygiene audits, record findings, and complete corrective actions, • Plan daily and periodic cleaning schedules to meet operational and audit requirements, • Train and develop hygiene operatives through on-the-job coaching and demonstrations, • Complete and audit all hygiene documentation, including chemical usage, titration testing, and stock control, • Safely operate and train others on cleaning equipment (foaming units, scrubber dryers, steam cleaners, pressure washers, etc.), • Identify and report equipment defects, missing guards, or site damage, • Support labour planning, absence management, and holiday cover to maintain continuous hygiene cover, • Work cross-functionally with Production, Technical, Engineering, HR, and NPD teams, • Act as a key contact during audits and customer visits Experience & Skills Required • 2+ years’ experience in food manufacturing, ideally within hygiene or sanitation, • Previous experience leading or supervising a team (team leader, supervisor, senior operative), • Strong understanding of GMP, HACCP, Food Safety, and COSHH, • Confident completing audits, paperwork, and corrective actions, • Hands-on approach with the ability to work alongside the team on the factory floor, • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with machinery, chemicals, and deadlines, • Good written and verbal English skills What’s on Offer • £15.71 per hour (average £34,310.64 per annum), • Stable, long-term opportunity within food manufacturing, • Supportive management and opportunities for development, • High-impact role with real ownership and responsibility Apply now if you have hygiene leadership experience within food manufacturing and are looking for your next step in the Coventry area.
