Remuneration: £35,000 per annum plus reasonable expenses Time Commitment: Approx. 4-6 days per month Location: Midlands (meetings held in Birmingham or Worcester, with occasional virtual attendance) Platform Housing Group is one of the largest housing associations in the Midlands, with a proud history dating back to 1967. We manage over 50,000 homes, support more than 120,000 customers, and employ around 2,000 colleagues. As our current Group Chair prepares to step down, we are seeking an exceptional new Chair of the Board to lead our governance into the future. This is a pivotal time for the social housing sector, and we are looking for someone who brings clarity, credibility, and care - a Chair who will support and stretch the Board and Executive alike who will guide our Board and Executive through the next phase of our corporate strategy – one that centres on improving customer experience, increasing satisfaction, and delivering sustained investment and transformation. The Role As Chair, you will guide the Board in setting strategic direction, ensuring effective governance, and building strong, transparent relationships with our customers, stakeholders, and regulator. This is a leadership role that combines oversight and influence with collaboration and trust. You will: • Chair Board and shareholder meetings, setting clear agendas and ensuring effective decision-making., • Lead on Board development, succession planning, and performance reviews., • Uphold our values, codes of governance and conduct, and regulatory compliance., • Support and challenge the Chief Executive and Executive Team., • Champion the customer voice and ensure it is heard at the highest level., • Act as an ambassador for Platform, upholding our purpose and reputation. This is also a pivotal culture-shaping role. Our Chair will help us strengthen relationships, evolve our governance, and continue to deliver a customer-first housing experience for a better future as Platform is investing heavily in people, homes, and transformation to deliver a modern housing association built around customers’ needs. What We’re Looking For We’re seeking a strategic and collaborative leader who shares our commitment to people and place, with a strong personal alignment to our values: People Matter, Own It, One Team, Be Brave. You’ll bring: • A proven track record of Board-level leadership, ideally with significant Chair experience in the social housing sector, or adjacent regulated industries., • Leadership experience in a large, complex environment, including commercial acumen,, • financial fluency, and demonstrable governance experience., • A strong understanding of the housing sector and the regulatory landscape., • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster a culture of openness, challenge and consensus-building., • A deep commitment to diversity, inclusion, and accountability to the communities we serve., • Confidence in engaging diverse stakeholders and acting as a visible leader., • A track record of acting with integrity, championing inclusion, and driving performance.
