The Portchester Practice is looking for an enthusiastic and committed GP to join our friendly and supportive team for a fixed-term maternity locum position. This is an excellent opportunity for a GP who is looking for a well-balanced role within a welcoming practice environment. We are a sociable and supportive team who value working together, with a daily morning huddle and a shared team lunch every day. The role would suit an experienced GP or a GP who is new to practice and would benefit from additional support and a friendly environment to develop. No patient list holdingNo home visitsNo duty doctor sessions The successful candidate will provide high-quality general medical services to our registered patient population, including: • Conducting face-to-face and telephone consultations, • Managing clinical presentations within a total triage model, • Providing appropriate clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management plans, • Completing associated clinical documentation and administrative tasks generated from your own consultations, • Working collaboratively with the wider practice team to provide excellent patient care The role includes: • 10 x 15-minute face-to-face appointments per session, • 2 x 10-minute telephone appointments per session, • Flexibility regarding working days by mutual agreement, • No requirement to hold a patient list, • No home visiting commitments, • No duty doctor sessions The Portchester Practice is a friendly, forward-thinking GP practice serving approximately 11,300 patients. Our practice offers: • Excellent patient feedback, with 87% positive patient experience ratings, • A daily morning clinical huddle to support communication and teamwork, • A strong team culture, including daily shared lunches, • EMIS Web clinical system, • eConsult, Docman 10 and AccuRx, • Established training practice with three GP registrars, • A GP-led total triage system, • A supportive and well-established PCN structure Our wider PCN team provides additional support including: • Home visiting team, • Clinical pharmacy team, • Social prescriber Locum General Practitioner Maternity Cover To provide general medical services to patients registered with The Portchester Practice during a period of maternity leave cover. The post holder will provide safe, effective and appropriate clinical care in accordance with professional standards, NHS requirements and practice policies. The role will involve assessing, diagnosing and managing patients presenting with a wide range of clinical conditions within a primary care setting. The post holder will work collaboratively with the practice team to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and contribute to the effective functioning of the practice. The post holder will be responsible for: • Providing general medical services to patients through face-to-face and telephone consultations, • Assessing, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic medical conditions, • Developing appropriate treatment and management plans, including prescribing, investigations and referrals where clinically appropriate, • Providing appropriate advice, education and support to patients and carers, • Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous and confidential patient records, • Reviewing and acting on investigation results, correspondence and clinical information relating to patients seen, • Completing clinical administration associated with consultations undertaken, • Making appropriate use of practice clinical systems and digital tools to support patient care, • Working collaboratively with GPs, nursing staff, administrative teams and wider multidisciplinary colleagues, • Participating in clinical discussions and practice meetings where appropriate The post holder will undertake routine general practice consultations and will not be responsible for: • Holding a registered patient list, • Undertaking home visits, • Providing duty doctor sessions The post holder will be responsible for managing clinical work and associated administration arising from their own consultations. • Maintain professional standards in line with GMC Good Medical Practice guidance, • Work within their scope of competence and seek appropriate support when required, • Participate in clinical governance processes and contribute to maintaining high standards of care, • Support the practice approach to continuous improvement and patient safety, • Ensure compliance with confidentiality, information governance and data protection requirements, • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, carers and colleagues, • Work as part of the wider practice team to support coordinated patient care, • Liaise appropriately with secondary care, community services and other healthcare professionals, • Contribute positively to the practice working environment, • Maintain appropriate professional registration and NHS Performers List status, • Comply with practice policies and procedures, • Maintain mandatory training requirements relevant to the role, • Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role and level of responsibility This job description is intended to provide an outline of the main duties and responsibilities of the post. It is not exhaustive and may be reviewed and amended in consultation with the post holder to meet the changing needs of the practice. • Is registered with the GMC and holds a licence to practise, • Is included on the NHS England Medical Performers List, • Is committed to providing excellent patient care, • Works well as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, • Previous experience working within general practice, • Experience using EMIS Web, • Interest in supporting or developing within a training practice environment, • Support can be provided for GPs who are newer to practice., • Experience of working as a General Practitioner within a primary care setting, • Experience of providing safe and effective clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of a broad range of patient presentations, • Experience of managing patients with both acute and long-term conditions, • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team, • Experience of maintaining accurate clinical records and completing associated clinical documentation, • Experience of working within a GP practice using EMIS Web, • Experience of working within a training practice environment, • Experience of working within a GP-led total triage model, • Experience of working collaboratively with wider primary care and community services, • Experience of supporting service improvement and clinical governance activity This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. £375 to £425 a session, dependent on experience plus on costs. #J-18808-Ljbffr
