About the Role: We have recently launched a new café in Angel, London, and are seeking an experienced and versatile Café Chef to join our opening team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who loves food, thrives in an all-rounder environment, and enjoys working across both kitchen and where required, floor. Were bringing a little bit of Kiwi warmth and hospitality to London - originating as a café and roastery in Scotland, were now expanding into London with big ambitions. Youll be joining a small, dynamic team at an exciting stage of growth, helping us deliver a thoughtful, quality-driven food offering with warmth and efficiency. Our menu has been carefully curated and developed by our food consultant were now looking for someone to execute and deliver it day-to-day, ensuring consistency, presentation and a high standard of service. Youll take ownership of the kitchens daily rhythm while collaborating closely with the General Manager and Head Barista to create a smooth flow between back-of-house and front-of-house operations. What Youll Do: Support daily kitchen preparation, including preheating ovens for freshly delivered pastries, assembling salads, sandwiches and granola pots. Prepare and present menu items to a high standard, ensuring consistency, freshness and attention to presentation. To include, but not limited to, a range of loaf cakes, small pastries and quiches. Assist with monitoring oven timings, temperature control and food safety procedures (HACCP, allergen awareness, temperature logs). Help with stock rotation, labelling and communicate with the General Manager regarding stock levels and popular items. Take responsibility for cleaning your workstation and maintaining high standards of organisation and hygiene at all times. Work independently within a small team, managing your time effectively to meet preparation and service deadlines. Contribute to daily briefings and weekly planning meetings to support menu updates and smooth kitchen operations. Support kitchen porter duties as required, including loading and unloading the pot wash, and ensuring all kitchen equipment, café crockery, plates and cutlery are cleaned and stored correctly. Be adaptable and willing to support across different areas as the café grows, maintaining open and collaborative communication between kitchen and front of house. Ideal Candidate Profile: Previous experience in a café or casual dining environment in the kitchen Confident with food prep and simple menu execution. Strong understanding of food hygiene, allergens, and safety requirements. Excellent communication and teamwork skills and comfortable working independently Self-motivated, organised and reliable Hands-on, proactive, and flexible - happy to pitch in wherever needed.
