Job Description Title: Training & Organizational Development Intern (Unpaid - For Academic Credit Only) Department: Organization Development / Human Resources / Training Location: On-site/City of Pearland/ City Hall Compensation: Unpaid Internship - Eligible for Academic Credit Only Duration: Semester Based Position Overview The Training & Organizational Development Intern will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of employee training and development initiatives. This unpaid internship is designed for college students who are seeking academic credit and hands-on experience in training, organizational development, and/or human resources within a local government setting. The intern will work closely with the [Organization Development / HR] team to assist with learning programs, workshops, onboarding support, and special projects that enhance the employee experience. Key Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Assistant Director- Organization Development or designee, the intern may: • Assist with designing, updating, and organizing training materials (PowerPoints, handouts, facilitator guides, sign-in sheets, evaluations, etc.)., • Support coordination of training events, including scheduling, registration, room setup, technology checks, materials preparation, and follow-up., • Help maintain training records, attendance logs, and tracking spreadsheets., • Assist with New Employee Experience (NEE) and other orientation/onboarding activities., • Help develop communication pieces (emails, flyers, intranet posts) to promote training programs., • Conduct basic research on best practices in training, leadership development, and employee engagement., • Support special projects (e.g., surveys, evaluations, data entry, summary reports) related to employee development and organizational initiatives. By the end of the internship, the intern should be able to: • Describe the basic components of a training and development lifecycle (needs assessment, design, delivery, evaluation)., • Demonstrate experience coordinating and supporting professional training programs., • Gain exposure to organizational development practices in the public sector., • Enhance professional communication, project coordination, and time management skills. Qualifications • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in:, • Human Resources, Organizational Development, Public Administration, Education, Psychology, Business, Communications, or a related field., • Eligible to receive academic credit for the internship through their institution (student is responsible for coordinating with their school)., • Strong interest in training, facilitation, adult learning, or organizational development., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills., • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills., • Comfortable using Microsoft Office/365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and willing to learn new tools., • 10-20 hours per week; Flexible scheduling within normal business hours:(Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.), • The intern will report to Assistant Director of Organization Development., • The supervisor will provide regular feedback, guidance, and mentorship., • This is an unpaid internship., • The position is intended solely for educational purposes and to support academic credit requirements., • No employment relationship is guaranteed at the conclusion of the internship.
