As we embark on the next 50 years, we’re seeking a Senior Designer - Housing to lead impactful design efforts and help shape innovative, high-density living environments that support diverse communities. How You Will Make an Impact: • Support Business Development and Marketing efforts by preparing RFQ/RFP materials, pursuit presentations, site studies, and participating in project interviews and industry events., • Set up project directories, organize documentation, and assist Project Architects with Revit model setup and project templates., • Lead design efforts for high-density housing projects from programming through jurisdictional approvals, establishing design concepts, criteria, and schedules., • Develop design documents—including site plans, floor plans, sections, elevations, 3D perspectives, and visualization materials—using SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Enscape/Twinmotion, AI tools, and energy modeling plugins., • Present design concepts to clients and stakeholders while coordinating closely with consultants, interior designers, and production teams to maintain design intent., • Oversee and mentor Designers, Project Designers, and Emerging Professionals, ensuring cohesive and high-quality design output., • Manage project timelines, align design decisions with budget requirements, and propose alternatives as needed., • Support Construction Administration tasks when required., • Contribute to ongoing team development by strengthening communication, presentation, and leadership skills. To Be Successful in This Role, You Must: • Bring strong conceptual thinking and the ability to lead design vision from early studies through detailed development., • Communicate clearly—both visually and verbally—with confidence in client-facing settings., • Demonstrate strong knowledge of building systems, materials, construction techniques, and code requirements., • Collaborate effectively with leadership, consultants, and internal teams across all phases of design., • Manage multiple priorities, maintain exceptional attention to detail, and meet project deadlines., • Guide and mentor design staff to ensure a cohesive, high-quality design process., • Uphold HPI’s values of intention, collaboration, and professional integrity. To Qualify, You Must Have: • 10+ years of experience in an architectural firm., • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program., • Strong background in high-density housing., • Student housing and senior living experience strongly preferred; single-family residential experience not applicable., • DSA experience a plus., • California Architect license preferred but not required.
