Job DescriptionDescription: Core Duties & Responsibilities • Assist in overseeing daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities. • Support the preparation, review, and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements., • Assist in developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure data accuracy and integrity. • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards., • Partner with the Controller to analyze financial trends, variances, and operational performance to support strategic decision-making. • Coordinate with department leaders to gather and validate budget and forecast data., • Support the preparation of management reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders., • Assist with regulatory compliance, tax filings, and audits by preparing required documentation and responding to auditor inquiries. • Monitor and reconcile account balances, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies., • Participate in system upgrades, process improvements, and special financial projects as assigned., • Provide training and mentoring for other accounting associates., • Serve as a backup to the Controller in their absence, ensuring continuity of financial operations., • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field, • Certification Requirements: CPA License, • Experience Requirements: 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in a corporate environment. • Strong understanding of GAAP and IFRS., • Exceptional computer skills, particularly manipulating worksheet files, spreadsheets and databases in QuickBooks, MS Office and MS Access; includes the ability to learn and use various customer software programs. • Thorough understanding of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in a service firm that produces billable project work (i.e. engineering, architectural, construction), particularly in either the billing or payroll department. • Integrity and commitment to ethical financial practices., • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across departments., • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs., • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills., • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment., • Available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and occasional evening and weekend work may be required as duties demand. • Willing and able to travel regularly, including overnight travel., • Dependable transportation and valid driver’s license and insurance, • Able to pass a background check/drug test/driving record check., • Computer literate – especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, • Authorized to work in the United States Physical Requirements: • Must be able to endure frequent/lengthy: Driving, standing, walking long distances (5 miles or more in a day), navigating rough terrain on foot and lifting/balancing objects that may weigh up to ~20 lbs. and require the use of upper extremities and back muscles; work in proximity to moving vehicles in the right of way. • Must be able to endure frequent, lengthy periods of sedentary work and sit for prolonged periods of time., • Must be able to utilize a computer keyboard, computer monitor, and telephone for prolonged periods of time. • Must have the physical ability to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing notes, and viewing a computer terminal; these activities require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. • Must have the physical ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, often in a group setting. • Must have the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
